Maybe the question should be rephrased to, "Is buying anime legitimately cheaper than drugs?".

Edit: New poll question.

wow semnae.

I woke up this morning and said to myself that at least it's Saturday, I don't have to go to work and deal with retards, I can spend time with intelligent people.

And what do I see? this shit. Does your idiocy never cease? Have you no shame? You're like those 400lb women that wear bikinis to the beach and run around shouting "aren't I beautiful?"

The linear nature of your Euclidean geometry both confounds and befuddles me.

It does depend on the drug and usage. If I were to use drugs like I use clay (recall my Claymore addiction), then I wouldn't last a week. Anime is far cheaper. Also recall that anime may be rewatched. You can't really resmoke a bowl of weed.

I think storage would be a bigger concern for anime ;)

$1800 a year on tobacco.
$750 a year on caffeine.
$1000 a year on alcohol.

Yeah, only the most obsessive anime fanatic could even touch a moderate, legal drug user like myself.  Forget it if you include hardcore narcotics users.

wtf kind of a newb buys anime
and it also depends on the drug
if your poppin oxy contin you might be spending 50 bucks a pill if your doctor wont prescribe to you and you go through more then 2 pills a day

and it depends on the quantity of anime vs quantity of drugs 1 weekend of hardcore anime entertainment = more then 1 weekend of getting drunk and high

Drugs are way cheaper than anime.  Even if I can rewatch it.

On a side note:  Kure, your ava matches up nearly perfectly on the beat with The Smashing Pumpkins - Eye.

LOL, I guess mojipittan (that's what Yuu-chan is supposed to be singing in my avvie) was more hardcore than I thought...

What if... anime was a drug? O_o

well anime could be a drug you never know what the new slang for a different drug could be,
you could see what is currently known as a crack head trying to score some anime on the streets
he needs his manga to get a fix
some times he likes it a bit ecchi
and if hes feeling really frisky he goes lolicon on that shit

Destroys ones social life, drains ones bank account, induces such symptoms as sleeplessness, headaches, and potentially bizarre sexual fantasies.  You might be on to something.

I think you're right.  *prods at her stack of anime and manga*  I am constantly trolling sub sites for new episodes and anime.

i consider anything thats addicting, costs money and gets you ruined "drugs" that includes animes(just look at those poor hikikumori otakus), games(drains your pocket right outa the house), alcohol(this ones gonna kill you eventually), food(not so bad but can get you fat and broke excluding dying from overeating) and so much more.

Edit:woops, bumped an old thread.

I wanna say anime is less expensive than drug because I don't pay for my anime, I just download it on Internet, but I don't take drug, and I do pay for Internet. So I guess we could say anime are slightly less inexpensive for me.
Don't just assume that you are right. Verify with the best tools available and if you are wrong, change your mind and you will become right.

I think a couple of you guys are on to something here... Let's look at the correlation of drug users compared to anime... uhh... users?

Similarities:
  • Disconnect from normal society
  • Hours spent while "on" the drug
  • The need for always wanting more
  • The need to hide it from family members or spouses
  • Going against social norms (preference of subs versus using dubs)

Differences:
  • You can't smoke anime (as much as I know most people want to smoke Tagia, but you physically CAN NOT)
  • Drugs can kill you, or make you lose an arm...
  • Only anime makes you curious if you can "rub one out" while watching it... and I don't mean killing a person... :P
  • Drugs can make you curious about "rubbing one out" and I don't mean masturbation...
  • Watching uncensored hentai is clinically proven to be 8.4 times worse than shooting up... and slander runs you more jail time than smoking weed... soo the moral of the story here is... uhhh... rub one out?

.
False equivalency.

There is no requirement for anime and drugs to be mutually exclusive.

Given that I could grow my drugs of choice for very cheap (NOT including legal fees should I get caught  ::) ), "experience enhancers" are far cheaper than blu ray collections.

[ EDIT:

Differences:
  • Only anime makes you curious if you can "rub one out" while watching it... and I don't mean killing a person... :P

Dunno, man.  First time I plucked one of these lovely flowers out of the morning dew, I had serious urges ...

Had nothing at all to do with harming anyone.  Just sayin' ...  ;) ]

A night out getting drunk usually costs me £70-100.
An 1/8th of half decent coke for the night runs up to ~£60, if you know the right guy (more if you don't, less if you want to snort sawdust).
A draw of skunk is about £25, twice that if you want the best stuff, and it depends on your tolerances but I wouldn't have said it'd last most regular smokers 24 hours (thats 24 hours stoned, not 24 hours where you're at work or asleep for 16 of it).

Tbh, anime still sounds cheaper to me, unless you're one of those fanboys who seeks out the rare hentai crap and then buys the figurine for good measure. I don't think I've spent more than £30 on a season...
