I wouldn't recommend watching anything after the first arc. The series died after that.

Nope. As Ace said, you should just craft your own ending once L dies in which Light's dream comes true.

Yes, one that has been said so many times its not worth using spoiler tags for. Its like saying Santa Claus isn't real.

Light was smart
L was smart
Melo was semi-smart
Near was like a retard with a blindfold in the dark shooting a shotgun at light while facing the wrong direction. He only hit light in the end because the writer decided to mess with his weapon and give him heat seeking missles (metaphorically)

Light is smart academicly, and yet he's stupid because...

1. He gave the people looking for him a trail to follow. Like wtf? He was pretty much the invincable, uncaptureable killer. If he were't a sadistic, egomaniac who couldn't help but kill anyone looking for him, they'd never have any leads to work with. If he was so smart he'd work out even if they knew Kira was a student, even if they invistigated every student in the region, the odds of being caught would still be next to nill. His killing L's invistigators did exactly the opposite and he should have known that would be the case.

2.He decided the best course of action was to reveal the deathnote. Oh yes, smart move, get rid of your problems by giving them the biggest bit of info that revealed everything to them and puts u at a disadvantage. He thinks inside such a small box, eg:- 'I need L's name to kill him!!!' Light had the names of all the people who hang around L 24/7. Why not use all of them to go suicide bomber on him? Once they blew themselfs up and L with them all problems solved.

Thats what make Deathnote a great story, in essence. They added the human factor so to speak. Ego, confidence, its all the downfall of man. Great story, ok anime, great manga.

Griffith from Berserk gets my vote.
I know this isn't a versus thread, but still.

(click to show/hide)First he sacrifices every single one of his friends (Band of the Hawk, his personal army), who would do anything for him, just to save himself, and become a "god".

Then he rapes Caska, Guts' (the main character) girlfriend right in front of him, causing Guts to go batshit insane and cut off his own arm to save her. He runs towards them, killing countless demons with his broken sword, while the blood is gushing out of his right arm, just to get struck down right in front of her, and get his right eye crushed by one of Griffith's new servants. The last thing his right eye sees, is the love of his life being raped by his best friend.
The worst part is that she wakes up during all of this, and seems to be enjoying it.

She begs Guts not to watch.

After the rape, Gaiseric, the Skull Knight comes crashing down, and saves both Guts and Caska.

2 years later, Guts finally finds Griffith, or more like the other way around... The only thing Griffith has to say is "I came to see if there was anything to sway my heart... But it seems that I am free."

Also, Guts and Griffith had known each other for nearly 10 years, and were best friends. At least Guts thought of Griffith as a friend. Griffith thought of Guts as an irreplaceable object, he could use whenever he wanted.

TL;DR: Griffith is the most evil dickhole of a villain of all time.

Something along those lines.
I haven't read, or watched Berserk in over a year. The story is pretty complex. *head implodes*

Light is like a fucking angel compared to him. Srlsy.
