Batman Gotham Knight
« on: June 27, 2008, 03:17:00 PM »
I have a avi video of the whole batman gotham knight movie that was leaked last night through a rapidshare.
I was wondering if I was allowed to upload it.
It originally doesn't come out till july 8th but someone got a copy from somewhere.
Here's a screencap of the movie

It's anime-style, but I still don't count it as anime though, so I would say no.

I'm ALWAYS nice. Well... except when I'm ebil. But I'm only ebil when I'm bored. Although... I'm bored all the time. Not that that's a problem is it? ;)

Have we done pre-releases before? I also can't seem to find licensing information for this one... it's reasonable to expect that Warner will license it sometime, although that probably might not be an issue for us.

Genre-wise despite the animation style, it doesn't count as anime.

Someone uploaded a pre-release of Paprika before, I believe...

On one side;
It's anime-inspired (well, Madhouse is involved...), it has japanese directors, was produced in a joint between Japan/US, and it will be released in Japan simultaneously...

On the other;
It will be distributed by Warner Bros in US, the original language is English, it's part of DC Universe Original Animated Movies, scripts for all the segments were by English scriptwriters, it fits into the continuity of the live-action movies, and neither AniDB or ANN lists it...

For now, it leans dangerously to the 'other'...

Looking at the file format of avi and the lack of subtitles in the screenshots tells me that this would be either english only audio, or japanese audio with no subtitles.

"The "2008 Movie Spectacular" special issue of Wizard magazine reports that Japan's Studio 4°C, Production I.G, and Madhouse are animating Batman: Gotham Knight,"

They are animating it so i say it should be uploaded.

I'm inclined to make Gotham Knight an exception to the usual anime rule as well, looking at the production companies.

But not this offer. Not enough information on the offer (unless the OP can describe file info in more detail), and more importantly why not wait for the DVD/BD release?

It's like Afro Samurai, in that respect. Japanese studio, English voice cast.

I'd rather not have the pre-release here, anyway.

well it's in AVI format, original english dub, every episode is in one video making it a total of 1:15:58.
I'm not sure if on the DVD it's separated but this whole thing is 1 video with the 6 episodes in it. the episodes are about 15 minutes each.
Frame width: 720
Frame Height: 416
Frame Rate: 23 Frames/second

I downloaded it from a direct download that I found on a forum site. there wasn't any information other than it saying it being batman and a screenshot of the video.
bitrate is 161kbps
data rate 45kbps
I'm not sure why they didn't do the bluray one. Maybe it's because it's harder to pre release blu ray and get away with it or something. I dunno.
Also, if I do get this approved how can I go about uploading it?

Encoder? Doesn't seem h264 to me, but I'm not the expert >_> Bluray release July 8, I think we may as well wait. There's no hurry anyway.

Also, if I do get this approved how can I go about uploading it?

700MB in avi is a little shaky nowadays. Let's wait for something worth watching.

What worries me is Studio 4°C and Bee Train in the same sentence :-\... From Wikipedia(Bee Train);

One frequent technique that Mashimo uses as part of his studio-as-hospital strategy is brainstorming new anime concepts with his colleagues in the state of alcohol intoxication. For example, according to him, that is how the idea of the supernatural connection between the two female leads of Madlax was born.;
