The Black Album was the not-so-bad one

Enter Sandman and The Unforgiven from The Black Album.

One of their best songs, from when they didn't become commercial: Seek and Destroy

Ride the Lightning and One are also good.

Really, there isn't a single bad song on the 1st 4 albums :)
Yes, Enter Sandman and The Unforgiven are good. Nothing else on the black album is good. I'd have liked Nothing Else Matters if it wasn't basically sung in 4 notes :-\
About St. Anger...the style is so completely different from everything else that liking it becomes a matter of personal preference. I like it more than the bland, characterless songs from Load and ReLoad.

yea your also talking about every album after 1989 which were bad, frayed ends of sanity is from and justice for all which is a badass album even if i wish it had better production on it.
i personally hate most of metallicas work after 89 especially things like death magnetic because it was such a clusterfuck of just them trying to sound like their 80s music without good song writing in there. It was like they mashed a bunch of their old songs together and it was shit
