AHH, okay sorry, I see what happened. "Pure" electronic music does not include anything that was not generated by a computer, synthesizer, or some other signal generator (think Roland, KORG, etc.). Samples are generally taken from live recordings (guitar riffs, vocals, drum breaks, and so on). Pure electronic music gives some people the heebie jeebies. I have heard things like "alien", "fake", and "unnatural" used to describe it. I also get "that sounds like it should be in a video game/the matrix soundtrack/etc." I was trying to convey the idea that in contrast, sample-based electronic music is an accessible entry point for that type of person.
Make more sense now?
