from what i understand is that there should be a fourth season eventually, just with how they end things, they are allowing for a while to pass before attempting to finish things, much in the same way that they ended d-grayman at ep. 103 yet they plan to continue it, just the animators want to take time to "pursue other projects". so don't expect anything soon, because this tends to mean that they'll forget about it.

Isn't the light novel in Japanese? I thought that few light novels got scanlated because they had too many words.

this is one of my current running favorite series, so i did look into it since they ended it without really ending it. there has been no announcements whatsoever since episode 12 was released that the series has officially ended, which is good since they never said they canned it. speculation is they want to see how popular the series is before they make another season, although i hope this doesn't end up being like slayers with 10 years between the 3rd and 4th season

I wouldn't be surprised if a 4th season was made though. AFIK, Zero no Tsukaima is still a pretty hot title. I think as long as the series can make money and fans will watch it, I am betting they will make another. It might be a while with the novels and such, but I'd say give it time.

I just finished the 3 seasons and i loved this show there better be a 4th season(and a hentai episode(s)  )

Serious note: This anime had it all cute characters sexy loli main character and a bunch of large breasted women. It has it all, sad moments, happy moments, funny moments there better be a 4th season!

Many of my most beloved anime never got a 2nd season, it would ever so irk me if Zero no Tsukaima gets a fourth season.

Besides, it's a pretty diversely populated genre, the harem/comedy - and it gets stagnate after a little while. Isn't it better you get something new rather than jumping the shark.

There's more than enough content for a fourth season, and the author keeps pumping them out, so I don't see why not.

Did you also notice the absence of any sort of concrete ending? I've seen plenty of anime seasons end with "The End" and come back for another round. I wouldn't read too far into it.
