The most beautiful designed anime
ghostjacker:
I thought Paprika was done very well. The colors were so vibrant. The scenes with all the toys, simply amazing stuff.

I have to strongly disagree with the popular notion that CGI is some kind of worthless stepchild of animation. It is no less an "art" than hand-rendered techniques, nor is it much easier (in my experience it just changes what is hard). There is much excellent work being done in 3d and 2d CGI. Work that comes to mind is Gundam 00, Starship Operators, Gundam Seed, and Ghost in the Shell, among others. The real trick with CGI is melding it successfully with 2d/hand-rendering, which is an art in itself that is only recently done well in any great numbers. Experience and a good eye is required to know when and how much CGI to use. But make no mistake, CGI is art, it is difficult, and there's a reason CGI studios get paid bank for their work on films and tv shows.
Some of the better examples of animation I've seen are Escaflowne (the movie), anything by Studio Ghibli, Patlabor (the movies), Black Magic M-66, Gundam 0083, Dennou Coil, and Ghost in the Shell (movie and SAC). Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl features excellent filter work as well. Ninja Scroll also easily makes the grade.

anything done by Satoshi Urushihara (Legend of Lemnear, Plastic Little, Growlanser IV OVA, Another Lady Innocent as well as the artwork he did for the Growlanser and Langizer series of games and the mangas he has produced as well as the monthly slot and cover art for COMIC Tenma)

Ergo Proxy and Noein are totally beautiful, 5cm per seconds also. Last exile deserves a mention :)
Lonewolf5460:
Paprika, Planetes, Real Drive i like it because of the realistic proportions the women in the show have.
