When I went really fast and didn't care about errors, I got around 120. When I minimized my errors, then I got around 55, which I guess is what I usually do.

I just type fast from lots and lots of practice. I don't even type with the right hand positions. I guess I've just been using the internet for too long. I also did data entry for a while. That sucked.

I never took formal typing lessons, but frequent use of AIM and chatting a ton on MMORPGs sure made my speed go up. Practice is what really counts =O

thats impressive and all but clearly im the champ here! lol

haven't tried it since then tho.

anyways i did receive training. in 6th grade there was this class where we do nothing but type for 2 hours straight. and i actually type with my index fingers on F and H instead of F and J, because we where only doing letters at the time, i taught myself that way and thought of it as an advantage

I remember when I started an IT job I had a few years ago, everyone was amazed that I could even type relatively fast. I guess anyone who uses a computer as much as I do generally types about as fast as they would talk, minus the typos :p

Decent considering I never learnt to write with all 10 fingers, I tend to use 6 if you count one thumb on space.

Edit

There are still work where typing fast pays off. Writers and those that take notes in court, parliament and so on.
