Tired of Kiddie Anime...

all in all i dont think he dislikes "kiddie anime" as he puts but probably just has more of a disliking for the likes of haruhi or TTGL things that tend to be just kinda out there and require a real lot of suspension of disbelief beyond the average level seen in an anime user, vampires yea sure they can exist, but a little girl cant be god in a world she created and things existent based purely on her emotions and feelings

Ok...  Lets start from the top... week long list of anime series available on boxtorrent...
Hidamari Sketch... Minami-Ke... Galaxy Angel Rune... Flame of Recca... Familiar of Zero... well you guys get the picture...

But then again why am I complaining... I got chance to see Claymore, Ergo Proxy, Hellsing...

It seems like you're making your opinion on stuff that's been uploaded recently to Boxtorrent - you may not find what you want just by looking at recent uploads - try and use the search features on the site to find material which is more to your interest, there's also the aforementioned recommendation forum.

Don't know if ya belive me when I tell you that i've seen everything that is on BoxTorrents... all the series and most movies... so now I mainly go by what has been uploaded on the first page... that is why it feels like most of the uploads nowadays is Kiddie stuff... again don't hate on me...

It is not what I am looking in the anime... if I want something adult then ill download Hentai... I am looking for something that has a story line to it... that list that I have provided was just example of what I meant... I got 3 HDD full of my favorites... I was just saying that lately there has been lot's of Kiddie anime... and was asking for a reason why it is up there...

It is not what I am looking in the anime... if I want something adult then ill download Hentai... if you have 3HDD full of anime then you should understand by now PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT TASTES alot of people like things you consider to be kiddie anime as adults

I got to feeling the same way... when I recently saw some kenshin episodes, I got exactly that thought someone mentioned in this thread.. something like "man I would have loved this when I was 17". Now it's annoying.

I have figured out a super easy method to figure out what anime I will like without asking for recommendations or wasting ratio on bad guesses. I google images for screenshots of it.

If the eyeballs look like this, I will not like it:


If they eyes are mix of this and eye type one, or mostly just this, I probably will not like it.


If the eyes look like this, it stands a chance:

your method is extremely flawed especially when you have shows like higurashi out there that are supposed to be some what cutsy looking and then horrific things happen.

And if you liked the idea of kenshin but hated how the series was, i highly suggest you check out the OVAs for it, its done in a much more mature manner you could say, but its like night and day when you compare the overall feel of the show even though like 1/4 of the ova is telling the same thing as the series its great

Dont kno I am all for kiddie anime. Well over 90% of my almost 2 terabytes of anime is all kiddie style anime. Styles like: Kyou no Go no Ni, Lucky Star, Figure 17, and one of my most favorites Fairy Musketeer Akazukin. Maybe its all the colors that attract me. Thats probably thinking about it now why most adult themed anime it unattractive to me. Stuff like Death Note, and SamuraiChamploo.. Seriously if there was a Death Note version with Lucky Star looking characters I would probably love it.

IMO, kiddie anime is all about content. I don't think action and gore is a prerequisite for that label. There is a lot of anime that doesn't have either that would be considered "adult/mature anime".

I think the point being that the original poster and probably alot of people looks at the anime style before the content to decide for themselves if its kiddie or adult. Like again what was said before. Take Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.. You look at the cover of the anime/dvd

Then whats the 1st thing that would come to mind?? Kiddie Anime. From all I take of it the only themed as he puts Adult would be anything dark, with continuing fighting, foul languages, and immense death scenes.

Well... I don't know if the Higurashi cover's a horribly good example, considering there's a medium-sized blood splat right on the title, and it looks pretty damn creepy, no matter how you look at it...

But to be honest, I understood mostly what he was saying when he said "kiddie anime" right off the bat. It's just "mature" anime. It's hard to explain, but it's not that hard to "feel". The style of the artwork, the storyline, etc. All are attributes that help define what is and what isn't a kiddie anime.

I'm not too sure where I would place Higurashi. Now that I look back at it, it all seems like a bunch of disconnected violent shit happening (with an overall "friendship" theme, to top it all off......). It seems more like it was targeted to the 15-17 year old range, with maybe a slight cult following in the 30+ pedo age range.

I mean, I definitely wouldn't place Seirei no Moribito in the "kiddie anime" description.

no i think what he was trying to say is that, if you ignore the little bit of blood splatter that you dont know is blood splatter unless you know about the show, it looks like a bunch of cute innocent kids, and thats what it is but the story ends up being fucked up story about little kids and lord of the flies
