Seeding from Different Pc's

(1/5) > >>

HollowLord:
I had been downloading to and seeding from another PC in our home until i got my internet reconnected to MY PC and now what I'm left with are torrents I downloaded to another computer initially that are now on MINE that I can't seed. I was told that I can not seed the same torrent from two different computers. I would like to ask why. I have at least 2-3 torrents I could be seeding that I am unable to because of the no-seeding-from-multiple-computers rule. Isn't there some way I can seed these torrents from MY computer without redownloading them(which negates the point of wanting to SEED them)? I would very much like to improve my ratio but if I'm disallowed from uploading these torrents it makes it that much more difficult.

Jarudin:
Seeding the same file from two different machines will confuse the tracker and will get you banned because it is a form of hacking.

Luckily, BoxTorrents has more than 2-3 torrents so why not slowly download a new one? That will increase your ratio as well.
Example:
If your download is 20GB and upload is 15GB then your ratio is 0.75 (15/20 = 3/4 = 0.75)
If you download 5GB slowly enough to also upload 5GB in the same time span your totals will be 25GB down ad 20GB up, this means your ratio is 0.8 (20/25 = 4/5 = 0.8 ) this way you can:
1. Download new material
2. Find something new to seed
3. Improve your ratio
All the same time!

It really isn't so hard as some people think it is.

It's a shame I can't upload the other one's I leeched but if there's no way around it I'll have to just get some new torrents like you said. I've been leaving it seed all night from 4-9am ish which isn't alot of time but the peers are low too. Thanks for clearing it up for me once and for all.

BuriaL:
I guess you could connect the 2 computers trough a router, OR if you have 2 network ports connect them directly, and set up file sharing between them.
Then get the torrent files, on the machine that access youre account you redirect the torrent to the sharing folder.
Sounds simple enough, no idea if it will work.

Maybe this is useful: http://en.kioskea.net/contents/configuration-reseau/partage-fichiers.php3

Good luck, let us know what the result is if you try.

I think youre misunderstanding each other though i might be wrong...

There is nothing wrong in you copying the data you allready have downloaded on that pc to youre own and then start seeding from youre own pc, BUT you have to stop/remove the torrent(s) on the first pc before starting it/them on youre own pc.

The tracker problems are if you are running the same torrent on more then 1 pc at the same time. As long as the torrent is only running on 1 pc at any giving time there shouldnt be any problems afaik.
