Ohh. I didn't know about this. This is something I'm certainly looking forward to:

Ichigo Mashimaro encore (2 OVA's) being released. One at the end of this month and one in March.

well... akikan has a whole bunch of new-to-the-scene voice actresses, but nonetheless, still good.

Oh... so that's why there aren't any new updates coming from fansubs.

I'll be watching these  8) and my thoughts about each one

Slayers Evolution-R
I love the slayers series, but Slayers Revolution was a big let down. Maybe I was expecting to much from it because it doesn't really have that adventure feel to it like back then. They cut it to short by stopping at episode 12. I was hoping they would make it at least 26 episodes long.

Minami-ke Okaeri
I absolutely love the series ;D It's one of the few anime's I actually go back and watch for laughs. I'm slightly upset at how they continue to change there looks. Season 1 was perfect, and season 2 animation style definitely looked better, but still they changed it up. I don't no if anyone looked at the previews but there faces look super long. I wish they would just pick a style and stick with it "Like Kyoto Animation." I'll be looking forward to this one. I just hope a good subbing group picks it up.

Zoku Natsume Yuujin-chou
I still haven't even watched the first season for this yet, but since they made a second season for it I'm sure it's worth checking out. I've had the first one on my HDD for over 3 weeks now lol. I'll watch it after I'm done with Witchblade and Maburaho 8) "yea I have some licensed stuff lol" I searched the net and finally collected those.

Birdy the Mighty DECODE:02
I seriously want to watch this but "Aoshen first season quality sucks" I wanted to wait for a better group to finish this up  :-\ Looks like I have no choice but to grind my teeth and deal with the eye cancer.

Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai
Who doesn't or hasn't watched Munto? It has that haruhi feel to it because the girl is pretty much like god to the people of the future. M.3.3.W said they were picking this up so I'm very happy and waiting to watch this.

Akikan
I've read blogs and finally seen a preview for this. It looks like it will be a good series but I'll be watching this depending on which group picks it up.

As for the others...
I haven't decided and probably won't watch them. Like I said before "It all depends on the group that is subbing it" Whatever anime my favorite groups choose to sub that show I will most likely be watching it

I'm adding White Album to my list seeing how eclipse is subbing it.  :D "currently downloading it right now"

i keep checking animesuki and tokyo toshokan every five minutes hoping the new ippo will pop up.  i'm dying with anticipation.  guess it'll be another day or two before it's released.    all i have is a little 15 second trailer i keep watching over and over.  the animation is newer looking, but otherwise it looks almost exactly the same as the previous ippo.  i love that.   the raw has been uploaded on youtube already, but i refuse to watch it.  i need the subs.

you should be checking these sites for news on the subs:
saizen -> currently looking for a raw provider for the series
ureshii -> no info yet about the project but has stated that they'll be working on it

Thank goodness that much of the fall season is still airing, because the winter lineup seems pretty pale to me.

I take that back.

Slayers Evolution-R
I too was let down with the last series, but it was good enough.  I'll definitely watch more Lina and hope the last season was more of an opener with a better storyline this time.

Munto TV
I thought the movie was just so so, with the best part being the animation.  But with KyoAni, it's worth checking out alone, plus they are capable of making the series animation on par with the movie.

Kemono no Souja Erin
I quickly judged this as a kiddie anime from just looking at the pic.  But being based off of novels from the same author as Seirei no Moribito, it will probably be epic, especially with 50 episodes planned.

Kurokami the Animation
People claim to love the manga and it's one of the few action types that I might like this winter.   Plus the pic just looks promising:  http://anidb.net/a6211
What's unusual about this series is that it's already licensed and "The television anime series will debut simultaneously in Japan, South Korea, and the United States within 24 hours of each other on January 8, 2009."  A dub version has already been made.  Of course, I prefer subs and hope a good group still picks it up.

Mahou Shoujo Ai San: The Anime
Figures they would make a sequel to this unusual Hentai :)

looking for a raw provider?!  are you kidding me?  i found a torrent for the raw last night and another one today.  oh man.  i was so praying to god a speedsub group would do the new ippo.  saizen's site is down so I can't even contact them.  i'd actually pay to watch a high quality subbed stream of this show, but anime companies are stupid and don't give us what we want.

ooh.... Munto, m33w is doing it. And just finished watching Asu no Yoichi, I picked up CoalGuys' subs, they're pretty decent. Just using their's as a viewing pleasure, hopefully another quality subs picks this one up.
And oh yEAH!! Asu no Yoichi got a great voice cast line up, Haruka Tomatsu, Satou Rina, Yukari Tamura and Kana Hanazawa(new but good).

Yeah Asu no Yoichi looks great. I saw it the other day. I got interested because Haruka is voice acting in it. (From Kannagi, singer of the OP and voice of nagi)

Definitely worth a watch.

UPDATING LIST AND THOUGHTS

Asu no Yoichi
I saw the first episode 3 hours ago "Released by Chihiro" Chihiro bashers shut up lol. They did "ok" and had some nice kara and TL. So far the series looks promising. It has all the elements I like "Ecchi" funny and the main character looks fun and not completely helpless. I kinda have a feeling where the show is heading already but still I like it. "would tell more but I'm trying to avoid spoiling it"

White Album
I dropped that show and deleted it after 5 min ::)....Even if eclipse is subbing it I instantly didn't want to watch for some reason. I'll probably check it out later when the series is over and a batch is released.

Shikbane Hime Kuro
I downloaded Animebreaker release but I have not watched it yet. [Teki] is just one episode from completion so I'll wait til there done to move on with the second season.

Akikan
Hard to describe this show? It has it's moments when I hate it and I like it.
(click to show/hide)
It's funny and to those that haven't watched it should check it out.

Well, in comparision with the fall season, winter is pretty bleak.
First, shows that I've seen already:
Minami-Ke Okaeri - first episode was ok, so I'll be following this. But I'm one of the few people who liked second season as much as the first, so your mileage may vary.
Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo - I had my doubts, but once Leopard was introduced they all ceased to be important. It made me laugh out loud quite a few times, so I'll be watching it.
Asu no Yoichi! - Manga was okay, voice cast is really good, and even though first episode wasn't all that great I'll probably be following this.
Maria†Holic - Well, I do like yuri... But I don't like traps. And I was watching a lot of shows directed by Akiyuki Shinbo lately, and I'm getting kind of tired. I'll definitely watch this show, but I'll wait a bit before deciding whether to follow it weekly or not.
Akikan - No, just... no. Everything about that show is fail.

Shows I've not seen yet, but want to at least try:
Hetalia Axis Powers - It has potential to be epic, but we'll see.
Kemono no Souja Erin - Good fantasy is always appreciated, but good source material isn't always a guarantee of succes.
White Album - If it's not too emo might be interesting.
Ride Back - Seems interesting, and I have a weakness for white dresses.
Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai - Well, it IS by KyoAni... But it seems kind of meh. I have the ovas sitting on my HD, so I'll watch them and then decide.

I'll be checking other shows too, but that's abut it when it comes to shows that have piqued my interest. There's of course a lot of shows that continue from the fall which I'll be watching, since fall season was particulary awesome. And there are OVA's too, but I don't really consider them a part of a season.

Speaking of Minamike... I think most people would have seen this Sankaku thread by now.

I'm still going to watch it, but gawd, I LMAOed so hard at those pics.

Kemono no Souja Erin - Don't go into this one expecting SnM.  It's quite clearly meant for children.  I'll wait for subtitled releases of the first few episodes to make a decision on whether or not to drop it.  It looks like it might be interesting even if they do continue to use cheap tricks to avoid showing any violence on screen.

EDIT:  With regard to Minami ke, who cares if the animation is subpar if they are able to bring back the solid comedy of the first run?  If all we cared about was animation quality, a masterpiece like Haibane Renmei would have been long forgotten.

Although if this season of Minami ke is like the last, there will be plenty of reasons, aside from animation quality, to ignore it completely.
