Kemono no Souja Erin - Don't go into this one expecting SnM.  It's quite clearly meant for children.  I'll wait for subtitled releases of the first few episodes to make a decision on whether or not to drop it.  It looks like it might be interesting even if they do continue to use cheap tricks to avoid showing any violence on screen.

I was afraid of that.  But will still check it out.

Kurokami the Animation (Black God) is one that I'll be following.  No lack of violence here... kids aren't even immune.

Geh, I'm kind of torn on Kurokami... On one hand it has pretty good fight scenes, nice enough animation and good art direction. On the other, after first episode it establishes itself as "anyone can die" show, thus succesfully preventing me from caring about any of the characters for the rest of the series.

I wonder how fast is the dojikko childhood friend going to get killed...
Plus the huuuge emo potential in the protagonist, the drama, and rather dumb premise. I kind of hoped that it was going to be this season's Ga-Rei, but it seems it was a vain hope. I'll watch few more episodes before I decide what it's worth.
The first episode of Rideback was good, character designs are much less annoying than I thought. If the political side won't be too dumb it's probably going to be a good series.
Tried watching first episode of Chrome Shelled Regios, stopped halfway, since it felt like a waste of time.

The first episode of Kurokami is very similar to Shakugan no Shana.  As for it being an "anyone can die" show, Shana too has the girl that had a crush on him die and disappear and being forgotten by everyone (worse than death IMO).  I expect most first episodes being more extreme than the rest of the series, just to be an attention getter.  And Ga-Rei: Zero's first episode was more of an "anyone can die" show than anything else I've seen.

I too liked Rideback ... motorbike and ballerina?  But can't really tell where this is going from just the first episode.

Sora o Kakeru Shoujo seems like a nice parody.  Cute animation with a lot of smooth CG set in the future.  And with Lelouch as the AI of the colony ship, it has some character.  First episode was okay, hope it gets better.

I was unimpressed by the Rideback trailers, but 1st ep just sucked me in. Nice pacing, good sensible character design, typical Madhouse animation quality. And hearing the Fuego growl just made me wish I had a motorbike again :_;

In short, ex-ballerina in white dress riding humanoid bike = win (for now, at least). Oh, also, enjoy Fuego's bootup BIOS (696GB SATA storage :O)

touch panel to run config utility <-- DO IT!

Kurokami 1 is good, it felt like Shana done right. I like the new male lead so far, I hope they don't screw him up.

Yeah, I like dark/melancholic shows :P

RideBack and Sora Kake Girl for me, and Minami-ke Okaeri when a better group starts subbing it.

RideBack was a real shocker for me, I watched ep 1 with no preconceptions and was rewarded with one of the best introductory episodes ever.
Sora Kake Girl for me is just good fun, with the number of things taken from all over.

BTW has anyone watched The Tale of Genji? Any good?

I'm downloading 1ep of Genji Monogatari now, but I doubt I'll be picking it up unless it's really good. Just not my kind of series.
Seen first episode of Munto, and I probably won't be watching it. I wanted to like it, I really did. But it has a generic fantasy setting, moeblob heroine, retarded(but fabuloussss) outfits, not even being animated by KyoAni can help it get any good. I'll watch the second ep, then probably drop it.
Second ep of SoraKake Girl wasn't nearly as amusing as the first, but it's still dumb enough to be entertaining.
And Ga-Rei: Zero's first episode was more of an "anyone can die" show than anything else I've seen.
Nah, rather then anybody can die it was everybody dies.

Everybody who doesn't really matter to the story. Who really cares about the other characters? I only watched it for the girls with swords. Anyone who says otherwise is probably lying. Not much depth to it, IMO. Just bloodbaths for the heck of it.

um hum, I was trying not to spoil.

Anyways, my thoughts on the first episode of Genji Monogatari Sennenki.  Oedipus Rex?  It has beautiful colors, but the animation could use more frames.  If taboo relationships or unrequited love is your thing, probably will enjoy it.  I'll save for later when I'm more in the mood since there's not much like it.

Munto TV - It was better than expected.  Probably because I already had low expectations for it; I thought the OVA was so so, and wondered how they would drag it out for the whole series.  The animation was good as expected from KyoAni, and the storyline moved along at a brisk pace.  So much that it has already covered much of the OVA.  So there has to be much more added to the storyline or it at least gets extended...unless they do a Shippuuden, which I doubt.

Kurokami - Second episode was just as good or better than the first.  There's a recap of the ending of the first episode... for those who didn't get enough of that.  We get to see them 'contract' and the guy has yet to go completely emo (or become filled with self righteousness), so that's always a good thing.  So many potentially good series I've dropped because I can't stand the male protagonist.  Most anime viewers already know this, but always watch after the credits.  Will often get additional storyline which isn't part of the preview.

Girl Who Leapt Through Space - I agree that the second episode wasn't as good as the first.  But will continue.  Lelouch didn't have much screen time in that one.

you only know they arent important to the story if you watch the entire thing, coming in to the show with zero knowledge. You get the impression that EVERY MAIN CHARACTER HAS DIED

after watching half of this winter's lineup, i've decided to closely follow the following:

rideback -> animation's fluid and the story/setting looks interesting
munto tv -> i want to see how kyoani will reinterpret the ovas
maria holic -> i like mariya's maid
asu no yoichi -> i want a dose of harem anime every season

i'll watch the following if i have some spare time:
white album -> looks like a good drama anime but aya hirano's voice is irritating in this one.
akikan -> lame premise but it parodies every anime cliche
hajime no ippo 2 -> i don't want to wait for another week to watch the next episode. will watch this one in batches

RideBack, Sora Kake Girl, Maria+Holic, Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou, and maybe Genji or Erin, seeing as I'll be getting a new HD soon, I'll have plenty of space.  :D

Sooooo it seems like I'll be dropping Rideback... Just watched the second ep and I'm dumbfounded. How the hell did this turn into a shounen anime?
(click to show/hide)
I had high hopes for this, but if it's going to be a sports anime then you can count me out.
Asu no Yoichi continues exactly like expected, to be frank it's not that good, but like Lupin said, harem anime are like crack.
Waiting for Viper's Creed, Kemono no Souja Erin and Hetalia Axis Powers. If anyone will actually sub them, that is.

Still a great show, I love how Rin's personality fluctuates between her submissive and dominant sides. Can't wait for the politics to come in.
(click to show/hide)
It's really got quite an interesting concept.

And come on, Hetalia Axis Powers is going to be Koihime Musou for girls. You're dropping RideBack for yaoi crack?  ::) Not that I'm in any position to judge, of course. Every man to his own.

I'm interested in seeing how Munto looks after the series gets through the content of the first 2 OVAs. Judging from the OP/ED I think there will be a noticeable difference in animation once it gets past that point.

I'll be watching these  8) and my thoughts about each one

Slayers Evolution-R
I love the slayers series, but Slayers Revolution was a big let down. Maybe I was expecting to much from it because it doesn't really have that adventure feel to it like back then. They cut it to short by stopping at episode 12. I was hoping they would make it at least 26 episodes long.

Minami-ke Okaeri
I absolutely love the series ;D It's one of the few anime's I actually go back and watch for laughs. I'm slightly upset at how they continue to change there looks. Season 1 was perfect, and season 2 animation style definitely looked better, but still they changed it up. I don't no if anyone looked at the previews but there faces look super long. I wish they would just pick a style and stick with it "Like Kyoto Animation." I'll be looking forward to this one. I just hope a good subbing group picks it up.

Zoku Natsume Yuujin-chou
I still haven't even watched the first season for this yet, but since they made a second season for it I'm sure it's worth checking out. I've had the first one on my HDD for over 3 weeks now lol. I'll watch it after I'm done with Witchblade and Maburaho 8) "yea I have some licensed stuff lol" I searched the net and finally collected those.

Birdy the Mighty DECODE:02
I seriously want to watch this but "Aoshen first season quality sucks" I wanted to wait for a better group to finish this up  :-\ Looks like I have no choice but to grind my teeth and deal with the eye cancer.

Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai
Who doesn't or hasn't watched Munto? It has that haruhi feel to it because the girl is pretty much like god to the people of the future. M.3.3.W said they were picking this up so I'm very happy and waiting to watch this.

Akikan
I've read blogs and finally seen a preview for this. It looks like it will be a good series but I'll be watching this depending on which group picks it up.

As for the others...
I haven't decided and probably won't watch them. Like I said before "It all depends on the group that is subbing it" Whatever anime my favorite groups choose to sub that show I will most likely be watching it

UPDATING LIST AND THOUGHTS

Asu no Yoichi
I saw the first episode 3 hours ago "Released by Chihiro" Chihiro bashers shut up lol. They did "ok" and had some nice kara and TL. So far the series looks promising. It has all the elements I like "Ecchi" funny and the main character looks fun and not completely helpless. I kinda have a feeling where the show is heading already but still I like it. "would tell more but I'm trying to avoid spoiling it"

White Album
I dropped that show and deleted it after 5 min ::)....Even if eclipse is subbing it I instantly didn't want to watch for some reason. I'll probably check it out later when the series is over and a batch is released.

Shikbane Hime Kuro
I downloaded Animebreaker release but I have not watched it yet. [Teki] is just one episode from completion so I'll wait til there done to move on with the second season.

Akikan
Hard to describe this show? It has it's moments when I hate it and I like it.
(click to show/hide)
It's funny and to those that haven't watched it should check it out.

UPDATING LIST AND THOUGHTS 2

Kurokami The Animation
Well it caught my attention mainly because I'm a huge fan of gore and violent anime. I read some blogs about it and the story line looks pretty decent. The first episode was pretty slow paced and it left me annoyed for the first 10 min but the fight scene was pretty sick. The story starts to really pick up in episode 2 so I'll continue to watch it.
(click to show/hide)

Zoku Natsume Yuujin-chou
I watched the whole first season of this like 2 weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. I'm not really a fan of slow-paced anime's like these but every episode shows a new character and pretty much leads to a whole new story. The best part is that it doesn't really have a main plot to it. He just continues to go through crap because of his helpful nature. Nyanko-sensei is the main reason why I like this anime so much lol.

Druaga no To the Sword of URUK
Just downloaded O-L release of 1 and 2 so I haven't watched it yet. The first season was really good but the ending was so lame. I hate when they end anime's with incomplete stories "like twelve kingdoms" So It will be watched tonight and I'll give my opinions on it next week.

Rideback
Downloaded Frosti version last night but haven't watched it yet. I've read some blogs on it but i'll judge this after I see it.

Munto TV
I'm so upset with this anime I wanted to delete it after 4 minutes. It's completely like the OVA in every way possible. I purposely played the OVA and the TV version at the same time to compare it and it's completely the same.
(click to show/hide)
I'll continue to watch it until then and hope they go past that part.

Shikbane Hime Kuro
I have no idea why this is the "so called second season" Shikbane Kuro has the exact same opening and ending as the first season and it continues on from the same part like it was just another episode. The anime lost it's charm awhile ago and I'm starting to hate it. I keep watching in hopes the main character might get some balls and FIGHT!!!!  and become good. "I hate when the main character is a hopeless pussy."
