Ew, I know I should probably watch the whole show before commenting, but I think I've gotten the gist of this show. Episode one was pretty exciting with the train and all, and of course the mystery of the show. I just finished episode two.

1. The animation is shit. It's just like Samurai Deeper Kyo, moving pictures. Example: When Kei is running on the track to go to Kato. Wow, he's just running in the same place, they just move the picture forward. Faces are pretty good-looking, but that's about it for the animation.. But this is maybe a good thing because then it doesn't seem as realistic as it would with BONES or Madhouse animating this.

2. I fucking don't have nerves to watch this extreme gore. I can perfectly understand why the TV version was censored. Actually, I'd probably be able to complete it then. I really don't, that's why I refuse to watch Saw, Hostel. I can't believe how people can watch this shit where bodies are torn, can you really watch this show and really like it? Plus, I actually like being able to sleep without having nightmares. I can take a lot of things, but mental stuff like seeing gore and hearing bones break is a no-no for me.

I was able to read Battle Royale, but that's maybe because that's manga and it's different, but man this show is borderline for me.

Ok, just finished it up. The two halves of Gantz were so completely different it boggles the mind.

The first half was slow as all hell, and at times I wanted to scream at the characters to tell the to just shoot the damn gun already! Gah. The first half pissed me off so much. I didn't need the backstory of all the new characters that got introduced. Waste of time. They could have done an entire alien battle in place of that garbage.

The second half is a whole different story though. I loved it! Much faster paced (for Gantz at least) and more action. It reminded me of Berserk more than anything, with how all of my favorite characters got killed off. The ending was... I'm not sure what it was. But it was brilliant regardless. For this series, it was the perfect ending. Not knowing if he lived or died, or what happened to Gantz... loved it.

That sounds pretty motivating knowing the second half is better.

Is the animation any better?................... .......The gore is still there, right? T_T

Haha. Sadly the animation doesn't get any better. And there's even more gore in the second half. Well, technically, it picks up a few episodes into the second half... but whatever.

In the first 14 episodes or so, all the characters just run around like a chicken whose head has been chopped off. They're afraid to fight. That changes around episode 15... I think. It was around there. That's where it turned from "meh" to "wow!"

i think every one should read the gantz manga. its fuckin crazy. and it looks really really good especially for a comic.

the show is good too, though it has its dry spots i still think its good. (especially the later half)

edit:and i like the gore!! i mean realistically speaking when someones head gots shot witha powerful assed gun it explodes a lot more vividly and violently then in the show (especially because of the brain matter everywhere). so i dont mind the gore, since it adds to the realizm and i didn't mind the animation either.

The manga just restarted and they're in the final act now.  I think it's pretty exciting.  It's definitely a vivid piece with lots of gore but I think it adds to the excitement and the extremism.

OMG.  I am busy watching this thing and I just can'stand how slow it is. I mean come on, it's slower than 24 (I never watched 24 though). But jeez, it takes at least 5 episodes to get through 1 hour.

Just got done watching Gantz and while slow in parts I really llike it.  It's a messed up anime like I've never seen before. 

I will say though the animation wasn't that good.  It was like watching a sat morning cartoon show. I didn't expect it.

Seriously read the manga i also thought what you were thinking ( pointless ending etc) but the manga is awesome....i read naruto,bleach,etc yet this is still no.1 !!!

Agreed phase 1 is not awesome(maybe even a bit boring)[this was converted to  a anime and given the worst possible ending]
but if anyone has read phase 2 or 3 they will probably agree with me wen i say that its surely the best MaNga there is!!!

Enjoy it? I did enjoy it but it was kinda a back and forth feeling, alot of the anime was them pausing in the midst of battle to talk which made it feel so slow. the concept of the anime has potential but this anime was a let down.
Favorite part? hmm i laughed alot when it came to kei constantly thinking about sex and just out of the blue asking for sex. the battles were ok and the suits are pretty bad ass.
Rate? id probably say a 4-5 out of ten. and thats being generous considering the abomination of ending.
Ending? like i just stated the ending was terrible, they gave no information, and pretty much everyone died. it was the saddest excuse of an ending i have ever seen, it felt like the makers just got lazy and said fuck it i don't wanna do anymore so lets just have them all die and then some random event happen and boom ending. WTF seriously. no closing, no nothing. very very very disappointing.
Drop it? hmm that's hard, i kinda did know the ending was gonna be shit but i still watched it and hoped it wasn't gonna be so bad haha, that's a laugh.
Thoughts/Feelings? i was really kinda pissed by the ending, i just kinda was like thinking give me back the time i spent on this piece of shit, but im already over it lol my overall thought is that watch this anime is like playing with fire, it seems fun and then you start getting a little more daring and you get burnt. the burn is the shitty ending if you didn't get that lol

well that's all my thoughts for now, may modify with more or alter.

you know its funny when i downloaded Gantz i almost downloaded the live action(which i didn't even know there was one till then) so i do plan on downloading it watching it soon thanks =D

there is a big different between discussing an anime and everyone talking about how bad it was.

It's all good man, just gonna tell you how the system works here. If there is an Anime that's the same season or the same thing you want to discuss about and there is already another thread about it (regardless of what the name is as long as it says in the title the name of the anime) then that's the thread you want to post in. Now say there is a second season, a second OVA or a new/another Movie that does have relation to the Anime but there is no thread available for it then sure you can make the thread if the original thread isn't being discussed heavily about that season (TV Series, OVA, Movies, etc).

Example, Macross Frontier and Fate Series threads. Macross Frontier thread is originally a TV Series then went to be two Movies but the discussion about the movies was in that thread. Basically people went with it and there was no need to create another thread about the Movies. Can you create a thread about the Movies? Sure. But now it's too late since the discussion about the movies carried on. The Fate Series thread is similar to it but contains everything relating to Fate. You go way back in those very old posts (all the way up to pages 90) it was all talks about the Anime (TV Series, Movies, OVAs, etc), VNs, Mangas, Light Novels, etc. Detailed discussions, opinions, thinking and thoughts, what were people going through in the Arcs and a lot of things to cover. So you do have threads like that.

If your thread has a new season or Movie and there is no discussion about it in the original thread and no relating threads to it, then by all means make it. This also applies to new anime.
