It's gotta be worse when you're trying to get some, but can't even see any action. Not that hopeless computer geeks get any action...

I could do that except for the Mobo.  All non working pc's I get seem to have a bad Mobo ./cry

U know u are a geek when you don't need the lights in your house any more.  Your towers & Monitor's light up the room just fine without the lights

[EDIT]
I didn't even realize I put the "./cry" at the end of that first line.....
I'm getting bad, need to take a break from WoW i guess

Just remember,  before you criticize someone, walk a mile in there shoes.  That way you are a mile away and have their shoes. :P

Just remembered one I did a few years back...

You know you're a hopeless computer geek when you buy an ethernet card for a Mac from 1994 off of eBay just to see how well it'd handle the web in its current state.

No, I'm serious. Paid $5 for an ethernet card that fit this blazing 33Mhz 68k Mac with a 320MB HD. Got it running Mac OS 8.1 so it could run a browser that's still being updated even today (iCab if you want to look it up). Surprisingly it worked fairly well, but javascript-heavy sites were really a bitch to load.

Man I really feel bad that I didn't try to do that with my old 286... 16 colors EGA grafics with all the power of Windows 1.0 behind it... Nah maybe from DOS...

But you know you're a hopeless computer geek when you try to install Windows 1.0 or 3.11 on modern day machines to see the speed boost... But it's a pain in the ass, 'cause you have to downgrade DOS in order to do it...

Us physicists (or at least, physics undergrads) will tell you something else :D

It's impossible to keep travelling half as far as you did before. There exists a limit to distance, called the planck length, past which point information can't be determined; there is no such thing as 'half a plank length'. So, when it gets down to planck length, it will be impossible to take another step, half of the last. Of course, this is an absolutely tiny distance, billions of times smaller than a proton. But, with current physics (planck length is determined by constants which we aren't certain about yet - mainly G, the gravitational constant, which you will know if you did high school physics. But anyway...), it's a significant distance and lots of quantum events depend on it.

i liked that answer :)

i thought maybe java could give us another answer.. and it came out that it depends on how far the distance to the wall is.
why? because either the distance to the wall becomes too small to count or the distance the turtle moves with one step becomes too small to count (=zero).. so the question is what happens faster..

Distance to the wall: 1.0E43
The turtle reached the wall (after 53 iterations)!
Distance to the wall: 1.0E44
The turtle stopped moving (after 1220 iterations)!

i hope that helps
