1. Isn't so damn transparent. Stack of windows in full-aero Vista = mess.
2. Doesn't have window borders that challenge the state of Alaska in size.
3. Isn't so shiny that each Windows 7-equipped computer screen can be seen from space.
4. Doesn't challenge Fisher-Price toys in use of painfully bright primary colors (ugh, Luna).

No wonder you use mac, who the fuck else would care about something as trivial as themes and colours! Don't like it? Well, get custom ones here:

Make one yourself if you want, or use Xan's cool litestep shell based theme.... and then modify it if you want!
In case you haven't noticed in desktop pic thread, many people use custom themes.

The failed epically when it comes to WinFX, I really looked forward to it.  :'(

I would.
Then sold it on ebay and downloaded a hacked version instead. Or if they make new version of the server, I will dl it instead. Less bloated bullshit.

Thank you Dragoon for being so eloquent.

You may not care, but many do. When you stare at a computer screen for hours and hours each day, it's nice for the interface to not make your eyes bleed.

I am quite aware of themes, but I find it inexcusable that one of the biggest companies in the world can't manage to scrounge up a decent-looking (mind you, not amazing or anything), practical, and highly usable UI theme. I should be able to comfortably use an OS for serious work within 15-20 minutes of installing; spending hours hunting down a nice theme and tweaking the OS into oblivion through third-party software, tweakui, and registry hacks is a nuisance. Aero fails here because it's quite obvious that Microsoft really didn't give a damn about usability; they were merely concerned with making it shiny in attempt to make Vista look like a bigger upgrade from XP than it really was.

P.S. the Windows skinning system is still really weak, even in Vista. Whenever a program locks up, all the flashy Aero makeup washes right off to reveal a badly-distorted Win2K window frame... Hopefully Windows 7 includes skinning at a core level instead of just being a cheap overlay.

Yeah, NTFS is pathetic.  When you've got a filesystem that doesn't correct file fragmentation very well, combined with dynamically allocated virtual memory, it doesn't take too long for the whole system to bog down.  We shouldn't have to defrag and reboot once a month just to keep the system running and files intact.
