Windows 7 and general bitching about OSes
relic2279:
Windows 7 is basically Vista SP3.
They rebranded it after some heavy modifications. It's still the same kernal.
NaRu:
Windows 7 is the same as vista but well tuned

I have access to MSDN, but I don't have a computer to install it on. I might install it on a virtual machine just to try it out.
IMO, Windows Server 2008 is a better "tuned-Vista". The cost for it is absurd though (thank you MSDN ;) )

Well it wouldn't be the first time that the "professional"/corporate version of Windows turns out better than the "consumer" version. Windows 2000, which was intended for companies, kicked the everliving shit out of Windows 98SE and Windows ME. It also was better than XP for quite a while...

They're supposed to get a new interface after the beta. (Supposed to)
Windows 7 Alphas have been out since like, last year. Interface looks same, but meh. How much has the interface changed over the years? Drivers I heard were good. But aren't they just vista drivers?
