I might have Keanu Reeves as Togusa. Togusa always seemed like a bland kind of guy who wasn't interested in much of anything other than tracking down criminals the hard way.
please say you are joking...

Togusa is a flat, bland and boring character who ultimately only exists as a foil for the other, more cyberised members of Section 9. Keanu Reeves could do that, no sweat.

Don't care who they get, or if they look anything like the anime characters - so long as they can act.

except for the fact that Togusa gives off a... "smart", purposeful, lawful-ish aura, which is quite opposite of Keanu

Which version of GitS have you been watching/reading?  ???
Does he really? I find he mostly gets in the way. He's only purposeful in Innocence, and never really very smart. Especially when politics are involved.

If it was up to me, I'd have Uma Thurman play the Major. The idea isn't to get a character that looks exactly what's in the anime, but someone who can effectively understand and portray the character.

I might have Keanu Reeves as Togusa. Togusa always seemed like a bland kind of guy who wasn't interested in much of anything other than tracking down criminals the hard way.

I don't know who I would cast for Batou, that's kind of a toughie. I don't know of too many actors who have a huge build and can act effectively. I guess the main thing is that you get a guy who can express unrequited love but also looks like he was in the military before. idk.

I'd have either Patrick Stewart or Ian Holm as the old guy...what's his name...I forget.

Just for kicks, though, I'd do something upsetting to most anime fans and make the sniper a woman. I'm thinking...Allison Mack?

You're spot on, there. Keanu Reeves is just right for Togusa. No imagination required, no emoting required. Just dull line delivery and a straight face.

My choice for the Major Kusangi is Jessica Biel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_Biel), who played Abigail Whislter in Blade Trinity. Mila Jovanovich is maybe a little old for that role now, but she is definitely right up there for who should have the part IMHO.

Batou is darned rough, as you said. Ron Perlman I think is perfect for Jet Black in the Cowboy Bebop movie.

Maybe Jason Statham (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Statham) or Matt Damon (he'd need some makeup to "age"). Both of these guys give a solid performance and have the physical talent and character to come off like decent tough guys.

It's to bad that most of the male actors in this generation seem to be middle weights.

Relly jesica i think not now way she could fill those highheels

They should just wander around all the CON's going on and find the hotest cosplaer.. acting will have little to do with this movie.. thus is why keano'san hell keano is horrible ron pearlman is the man - the end

Statham as Batou? Sound good, tho I can't imagine Batou with a strong British accent ;)

Keanu Reeves might be a little too busy playing Spike in the Live-action Bebop to take on another high profile role, though who knows for sure?
I can see Milla as the major, though Biel isn't a bad choice.

He doesn't always act with the accent. He does a reasonable unaccented characterization, too.
