Yes, you can literally beat the game in less than 12 hours (because of that Excaliber II weapon quest), but I never actually did it. Everytime I play the game, I had so much fun doing the side quests that I never get it done in 12 hours. The chocobo side quest, albeit annoying at times when you just peck for an hour for all chocographs, was fun to actually try to find them in the world.

The part of FF9 that sucked was the card game  :-X

I agree. The card game in VIII was much more accessible than the one in IX, I've completed it several times, and I still don't know exactly how it works. Then again card games in VIII pretty much becomes a matter of luck as you try to win Guardian Force and Character cards since you pick up so many annoying rules.

Side quests in X were really good. Blitzhball was epic though it becomes much easier as you learn more moves.

Did people at Sqaure Enix change or did the good developers quit/retire? It doesn't seem like the same company that made awesome games (VII, VIII, IX) back in the Playstation era.

Those were Square Soft. Including VI as well (should play it if you haven't). Then they formed up with the shitty Enix and became Square Enix and ever since FFX they haven't hit a good FF yet.

Ah, you are right. Well, those creative people from Soft must be long gone. They still release decent games (6/10 or 7/10), but nothing like the usual Final Fantasy standard.

Tatsujin:
Kitase: FFXIII-2 is a “completely different experience”. New Screen Shots inside the link!

HiddenJumper:
If this one delivers on exploration and interactivity with the NPCs, then I'll definitely pick it up to see if its better than its counter-part. However, like with Tomb Raider, I'm not holding my breath only because I don't trust Squeenix to create a good game anymore.
