My expectations will go up 20-fold if they get rid of Snow, Sazh, little boy (I don't remember his name), and Vanille.

Then let me keep Vanille for myself. Me likes her! She was my favorite of all the main characters. I want Hope to piss off and go cry to his mommy.
Spanks:
As soon as XIII-2 was announced all my friends who played or finished XIII said to me "eh, boring the first time why drag it on" or similar. I was a bit more optimistic as I thought maybe they will change the game play and style of the game like they did X-2(I actually enjoyed this game unlike many others).
This optimism died when I found out the combat system is the same. Bargain bin for me in two years time.

I'm close to finishing the game but I quit because of it. FFVI and FFVII's battle system is still the best out of all their releases, including XIII.

If X had an easy battle system then XIII is holyfuckingshit easy. I'm playing that now, and most battles so far can usually be won by just pressing X. This also goes for a lot of other Final Fantasy titles in the beginning so I hope this changes.
VI, huh? I've only played the three on PSX and X and X-2 on PS2. I never got around to playing Final Fantasy XII though. Need to get the remaining fantasies on PSN.

I've enjoyed XII's battle system even thou' it felt like a freaking MMO. XIII is easy until you get around the middle of the game, thats when you need to prep your characters gear and tactics need to be used.

Tactics need to be used? target creature, do as much damage as possible in as small amount of time as possible, target breaks(whatever its called) target dies, move onto next target. Only tactical shifting made this game bearable.
Combat system ruined this game for me.
The combat ruined XIII for me

Doh, FFX and FFX-2 in combat style are like FF1 and FF7 in visual style.
Unlike FFX which was predictable in combat as much as it gets, in FFX-2 a minimal error in decision could end your game in a single swipe, loved it when I had to fight immune mobs while not being really ready with the dress sphere :)
FF13 looks nice and has a nice story from what I read on so far, but other than characters and story, it doesn't really have much to offer in interesting combat, since FFXII SE is trying hard to make an interesting combat but fails on the simply stuff they were doing up till FF9 in combat style, and the only interesting thing was in FFX-2 with the changing class in-battle and anything afterwards started to be cheap.
Youtube only makes it less appealing when you look at combat in 13, and versus makes it even less interesting combat-wise. this is the reason why I am still not buying PS3, I thought FF13 would be incredible and I could finally play something really hard, but it seems like Visual experience is still the biggest priority for SE.

Wish I had the foresight to not buy a PS3, I have had one since just after they stopped selling the PS2 compatible PS3(Fuck you Sony) and since then I have bought a grand total of.... ONE game. No prize for guessing which one.
Only thing your missing out with FFXIII is some ok cut-scenes, go on youtube and you will more fun then playing the game.
SE???
Havoc10K:
SE - Square-Enix
AS I said, the story is good, and the visual experience is great, and that is where it ends.
That means cutscenes are nice.
