Hmm, just reached Gran Pulse a few hours ago. How much would you guys say I have left? I hardly fight every creature I can find. Only those where I can get behind or when I'm faced with small creatures that doesn't require ten minutes of fighting. Jesus, at least make deceptisol more available if you're going to make encounters work like this.

Plus, upgrading your weapons and accessories is really annoying. You're basically asked to upgrade your things to get stronger, but unless I am mistaken you're stuck with what you began upgrading in the beginning of the game since you become significantly weaker if you attempt to use a different weapon or accessory.

As for the story, at least choose better names if you're going to clusterfuck it. Cocoon is fine, Gran Pulse too. But when they're start going on about Fal'Cie, Cie'l or Pulse Fal'Cie. Holyfuckingshit.

To simply beat the game? You're about 3/4s of the way to the end, time-wise. Though if you do the post-game stuff... you're at most halfway done.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 videos show off expert battle mode. Absolutely fucking amazing battles. Check out the Expert battles. No delay in combat when you shift stances.

Edit -- Final Fantasy XIII-3 not on the cards despite domain registration. [12.04.11]

Speaking in a podcast, Square Enix public relations officer Akio Ofuji has explained a Final Fantasy XIII-3 domain registration as a defensive measure. According to Andriasang‘s translation, the registration was made by the US office, and Japanese staff weren’t aware about it until the story was picked up by press. Final Fantasy XIII-2 is due in Japan this month, with a Western release early next year on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Just saw a commercial for FF13-2...there was no gameplay footage.  Just a cg that I don't even think will be in the game.

What are you doing, SE?

The battle system looks like Kingdom Hearts, except worse. Not really on Tales level, either.

Meh.

Cute, huh?

Out of curiosity, who's going to get this one at launch?  For me, FF13 did to the FF series what Dragon Age 2 did to the Dragon Age series, turned a "must buy at launch" to a "wait a few months and buy it used".

I'm planning on waiting a few months to get it for like 20 dollars, tbh.  It comes out on the same day as Soul Caliber 5 and a week before Reckoning, afterall.

After watching a bit more, I realized it was just like the game before it, except that it has slightly less delay for switching. I didn't play FF13 myself, but I watched one of my roommates play it quite a bit.

Overall, I think the FF games really have outdated mechanics. Seems to me like they're just living off of their reputation. I mean, they just now finally switched to battles that weren't completely random. How long did that take?

Had way more fun with the Kingdom Hearts series than I ever will with FF. IMO if they just switched over to KH's battle system and gameplay, it would make the gameplay portion far better.

Cute, huh?

Random encounters was what made the game, or at least one of the better elements.

IMHO after FF7 the FF series dropped gameplay quality for cute cookies. I can understand improving graphics but only if it doesn't come at the cost of real FF gameplay. What is being sold now is not an FF game, it only has it's name.

Still waiting for some new FF Tactics game I could play.

I don't know how you can say the series got worse after 7, given how 10 and especially 9 were better.

People tend to see FF7 through nostalgia glasses.  I dare you to try playing it now, a lot of the elements just don't work anymore.

I'm totally with you on FFtactics, though.  They keep making those Tactics "advance" games with terrible story.  I want to return to the gritty world of Delita and Ramza again, not this cartoonish world where nobody ever dies.

Actually I keep playing FF7 every now and again. Already started my 21st playthrough :)

I just blew up Sector 8 Reactor :)

But yeah, Although I liked FF Tactics Advance story and characters, I missed the various mechanics from the original FFT.

Also the ending of FFT is 90 times better than most FF games had, all thanks to the brilliant story and music. Uematsu FTW!

I wouldn't mind another FFT game provided I could play it, so PC or PS2. Although if things go on like this, in around 5-7 years we will be able to play PS3 games on emulators at this rate, PC power increases rapidly.

I don't really care for FF games just because of random battles.

As for what you just said though: the question is who would actually code these emulators? You realize that the PS2 emulator is STILL in development, and a decent amount of years down the line, yet doesn't play games perfectly?

It's not just a matter of hardware: I don't think anyone's going to invest the time into trying to make an emulator for the damn thing.

Cute, huh?

Someone will invest time into it, they always do, if not for a practical use, then just for the heck of it.

Final Fantasy XIII-2′s ending doesn’t refer to a sequel. Moving on to Final Fantasy XV. About god damn time, SShit-X.

Here's hoping it will start being FF Universe and not Demon May Cry more combat system.

Please, return to class system and random encounters !

I'm all for the return to class system, but random encounters?  Sorry, but after Chrono Trigger, there is no excuse for random encounters in any rpg.   ;)
