I decided not to pick up Queen's Blade... then changed my mind after seeing this.

Wow, I just love fansubs that take the time to choose the most unreadable subtitle styles possible. I'm guessing that's Aasasubs, based on AniDB comments.

EDIT: Wow, ANN haet Queen's Blade, with the kind of haetred normally reserved for loli, moe, and loli-moe anime.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

hmm considering ep 1 and 2 of queens blade should be released, anyone know what groups picked it up?

Yea, it's Aasasubs.  It's as if they tried purposely to make it less readable.  But I'm not choosy when checking out new series, since I drop half of them.  Hard to believe that so much talent is involved with this show.

The only group with some reputation (Chihiro) dropped it, but there are a couple of others who have picked it up. I think only one of them did it in the correct aspect ratio though. Rape and Aasa actually stretched it to 1280x720... Then AnalRape corrected that and re-edited Rape's subs. Yeah, that's the fansub group names involved.

Who cares about subs, I'd watch raw if I can grab that faster, LOL. Not like a series like Queen's Blade needs much translating, anyway. That scene --> "boobage overload". Need any more translation than that?

I'm going to keep watching the raws for sure, just want the WS broadcast to get a decent release, for archival.

I got the Hong Kong fellas to sub it and release it under 3 hours after airtime.  ;D I don't know how but they manage to pull it off.

Ghost boobs? Boobs and snakes?

I've just watched Saki, and it's shaping up to be pretty fun (Boob-wise), more ecchi, less moe (with yuri undertones).  Other than a lot of the character designs being similar to Strike Witches.

Eh. As far as strike witches go, that's definitely ecchi. I don't think Saki fits that genre (at least as of right now)

I haven't had a chance to watch much of the new anime this spring as I've been working an insane amount (Have to watch shows as I fall asleep now) but here are my top 3 so far:

As of 1 episode

Saki - Even if you know nothing of mahjong, this anime looks like it's gonna be good. Typical "A Prodigy at something, but doesn't like it, gets recruited to play it" type of anime but there is something different about this one. I've been waiting since October to watch this after first hearing about it and it didn't disappoint.

Shangri-la - This one also looks like it's going to be good. There was a little hype surrounding this but it looks (so far) like it might be deserved.

K-On - This kind reminds me a tiny bit like Saki. Except with music instead of majong. Seems like it might turn out really good.

Last fall I predicted Toradora, Kannagi and Skip Beat were gonna be great after seeing 1 episode in my "fall anime first impression" thread. Don't think I was far of the mark. This spring I'm gonna go a head and put my vote in for those three. (I feel like a sports bookie or an odds maker) :P

Hope there'll be a nice group picking up for the following reasons:

1) HorribleSubs...well, how do they sub? Don't like it
2) Crunchyroll... I live outside the US

I say Eden of the East trumps Shangri-La. S-L's first ep was very haphazardly done, waiting for Eden to make a proper estimation.

K-ON! has wiped the floor with Saki for opening episode popularity, but so far I'm liking both shows.

Sengoku Basara
and Queen's Blade I'm watching just for the unadulterated heck of it.

A friend of mine made me watch the first ep of Mazinger, I think I'll give that one some time as well.

And the subs are not actually horrible, though since they just rip the streams, the video quality is pretty horrible.

Maybe it's because I just read the corresponding chapter in the manga, but I found the openings to both K-ON! and Saki to be quite a bit more amusing than the first episode of Hayate S2 - they might need to take some liberty with the source material in order to keep it fresh.

My first impressions of what I've seen so far:

FMA- Better than the first with worse comedic scenes. A bit leery on that, but I'm looking forward to it regardless.

Asura Cryin'- Index with mechs? It looks like they've tried to stuff everything possible into it: Magic, mechs, harem, a ghost, the church, probably politics as well... could be a total mess. Looking interesting though.

Pandora Hearts- Weird is all I can say. Wth is up with the rabbit in the opening?! I'm getting flashbacks of Donnie Darko!

Shangri-La- The only series that I'll probably follow as its released. Seemed a bit scatterbrained to start, but solid overall. Have high hopes for this one.

Sengoku Basara- Woo! Damn good action. Gotta love all-out wars with swords!
