The Game-Show episode kind of condenses all the prior episodes without turning into a recap episode. There are some small things you might have missed, and it's good to watch for that. It also builds on the nature of the Proxies.

Well, episode 15 tell what the proxies are and how the Earth became the way it is... IMHO it's one of the most crucial episodes when it comes to the background behind the main storyline.

Only on episode 14 but got to say i really like it even though it is slow paced kinda reminds me of Blade Runner on Acid, which is quite a good thing least for me. I love the philosophical aspect of Ergo Proxy and Pino is Cute as. Well after reading some comments quite interested to see how they ended Ergo Proxy and to be honest one pet hates about anime when leave all vital information to last 2 or 1 episode and jam in all in 20 or 40 minuets.

I felt kind of the same about Ergo Proxy. There are good ways to do the last episode cramming. I think Trigun did it pretty well. You don't know jack about Vash and his past until the last episode. With Ergo Proxy, I don't think there was enough build up. The payoff didn't really pay off. Definitely was awesome, though. Really loved the existential pondering, especially with Pino(cchio).

I just have to say that I loved the depth of emotions that Ergo explores: Love, Hatred, Duty, Loneliness, Friendship, Sadness, Joy... It's a truly expressive series, in my opinion, and it offers an interesting look at things such as religion and the complexities of non-human relationships. I also thoroughly enjoyed the opening and closing segments, and I thought that they captured the mysterious, ethereal, religious feel of the series quite well. I'd have to say it's between this, R.O.D. the TV, and Planetes for my favorite series.

My problem with EP was that there was a little bit of action in the first episode. After that I was always waiting for more heavy action to ensue but it never came :( Guess that's why I was so dissappointed with it...

Yeah it was a good episode. At first was kinda confused with all the jumping around this show but after the second time it did it i realized what was going on and it was all good.

I am kinda hoping for a 2nd season of a movie just to see how everything turned out with man coming back.

I didn't like it because there was too many damn episodes where they were just like "let's just throw some random shit in here that makes no sense for kicks and giggles!"

It was okay. There were way too many bizarre filler episodes though.

I didn't really end up liking it. It's one of the few I actually deleted from my HDD.

I remember reading somewhere that Ergo Proxy was the most messed up and disturbing anime ever and that made me stay away from this title. Is it true? O__O

Well anyways, I decided to give it a shot and downloaded it. I'm gonna watch it on Monday. Any warnings/reminders before I watch this series? I'm not into gore so if there's lots of that here, kindly tell me please. =x

first couple of episodes were great, then it built up some suspence until episode 12-14 or so.That was the point when i thought i would watch an awesome series... but hell not!!! After the episode with the "game" the series turned into some huge bullcrap imho, only to "drag" the plot, slow the pace down even more and give an abrupt ending (and a sloppy explanation) in the last 1.5 episode. I can't understand all this hype going around Ergo Proxy, for me it was one of the worst anime i ever watched (FLCL is still the worst by far). If it was a 13 episode series it would have been really good (even with that abrupt ending). 23 episodes were way too many for that.

I got to admit though that the atmosphere the show has is GREAT with nice background sounds, which at certain points make you get the chills (like the sound of the air in some specific scenes on that boat). Real Mayer is great character (much better than vincent law imo) but a bit undeveloped. First episode is great as well. As much as i ditch this series and as much as it spoiled all the fun for me after about the half of it, i still recommend it to anyone. And when you are done watching it then watch "RahXephon" and "Texhnolyze". Series with same principles more or less with Ergo Proxy, less dark, nice atmosphere and much better than it ! (in my opinion obviously). My personal rating to this series is 4/10. If it weren't for the atmosphere it had in the first half i would give a nice round 0 i think :p

One should not go into Ergo Proxy while expecting some basic "i'm gonna discover my past and my hidden power and then overthrow the overlords" shonen junk. Unless you're willing to scratch the surface and give a bit more of thought, you'll be disappointed.
There's no one in the world I'm interested in surpassing, excepted for myself.

I agree with everything you said in this post, except for FLCL being bad.

FLCL is entirely stylized, lotsa funny moments, cool artstyle, sweet animation and a great storyline. Everything about it is fcking wicked. People who don't like FLCL obviously don't have a sense of humour... :-[

tbh i don't have any valid reasoning behind the fact that i just didn't like it at all.... I'm always trying to convince myself re-watch it and give it another shot in case i misjudged it, but i still haven't done it. For some reason it didn't appeal to me at all. But i got a sense of humour don't judge me cause of FLCL :(
