Hopefully, I really liked the dub, but I couldn't find any good copies of them since they weren't released as a soundtrack.

i didnt really like the dub. its more funny in japanese with subs because of the random english placed throughout.

There probably will be one in the next couple of years since the manga is starting again in june.

Man I thought it was going to be one of those animes I hate at the end, but it turned out alright.

I liked this anime for the most part, except for the occasional engrish that really bothered me.

It's always a tricky thing to bring back a anime. Actually, in that case it's tricky to bring back ANYTHING. With a good ending, the show runs a risk of ruining that ending which ultimately ruins the show it's self. Think of it like this.... My pet died and I really loved the little critter a lot, but it had a decently long life. So if I reanimate it I run the risk of the fur ball going crazy and enjoying the taste of human flesh. This obviously would make me dislike my pet very much. So you see, it's not always a good thing to bring back something.

just finished watching it...
BEST MUSIC RELATED ANIME OF ALL "FUCKING" TIME!
this was teh greatest! the Japanese grammatical errors and "engrish" included!
The only thing that needs changing/adding is another season!
To damn good! INSPIRATIONAL! especially since i play the guitar and sing too(mostly guitar). i really could relate to a lot of what happens!
too bad Japanese bands dont get any major recognition in America.
the characters were great too.
i just wish
(click to show/hide)
it made the show seem a little un-realistic in that sense.
STILL A BANGIN SHOW! All the damn characters are good as hell!

Still though every one coulda got there fair share. Out of the whole set at least Taira and Saku. Saku tries. Taira just looks like he would get some just by walking around.

Didn't want to start a new topic since there is already one here on it so. Anyway...

I am wanting to know alittle about the series from those who have watched it. I am considering downloading it and have been for awhile but would like to know if its any good. Any problems people found with it etc.

From these previous comments I understand there is alot of engrish it and I don't consider that a bad thing if it adds to the overall feel of the show.

Ending good or bad?
Storyline and character development good?
Is it something that I will be able to get into straight away or will it require a few episodes before it gets going etc?
One big question I have is if I watch this will I feel the need to read the manga too because the events have changed or stop midway in the anime?

Mainly just general opinions on quality of anime.

Also if which group I should go for with this. A-S, A-E etc? Most likely will not watch the english dub so that shouldn't effect choice.

Thanks in advance.

The ending was awsome considering it stopped short of the manga. The character development is amazing imho and done very well not just on a person to person basis but with the band as well. The show sucked me in right away, i really liked the fact that the people werent just gods of music and had to work at it a bit. Highly recommend watching it even the dub was done well as far as dubs go.

Oh man, it's been a while since I started a series where I thought: "have to watch more episodes!".

I've been stalled at episode 2-3 for a year or so, and then I started and watched up to episode 9 in one go. On ep 11 now.

Lol at the engrish and lousy animation. The CGI too.

Too bad the entire franchise wasn't animated. It's going to suck when I start reading the manga. I read a bit and it seems the main character has been striped a bit of his funny facials in the anime. He's a bit more emo.

I am of course not reading the first posts in this thread so I am sorry if I am being redundant. I don't want to get spoiled.

Oh, and I so feel like picking up my (borrowed) guitar and start practising, getting to rock it out on a scene like that being able to make such sounds = awesome.

Though I am surprised at how many volumes are left when the anime ends. A total of 23 volumes!

I remember the year of 2007-2008. I started getting into a bunch of bands.. Nightwish, Lostprophets, Skillet and Story of The Year.

I would still welcome an OVA or mini-series of this show. I still have it on the HD in the "DO NOT DELETE" folder....

Let me tell you that if it wasn't for K-ON!!, BECK would automatically have the title of best music anime.  EVER.  Plus I will agree that the ending is actually quite satisfactory considering how much longer the manga goes for (which is QUITE a trip in itself).  The character personalities really are fleshed out, while the engrish makes some sense but also has a hint of that hilarity factor.  All in all, a great series, and I hope that they make the anime so it goes to the end.

Beck is great on so many levels! The characters, the animation, the music, everything is great. Some times the "engrish" feels a little strange.... especially when they are singing but it in no way takes away from the series.  I just started watching recently so I haven't made it to the end but I've been hooked on this one all week.  It's funny how much this anime motivates me to pick up my guitar and play more often....
If you're a music fan or are looking for a good anime and haven't seen this one yet you would do well to check it out!
Is it worth reading the manga as well? my big draw is the music but the characters have really sucked me in and I keep hearing the manga takes the story further..
