Do any of you remember this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_case_of_Sklyarov,_ElcomSoft,_Adobe,_and_the_DMCA
Adobe basically kidnapped this guy from his home country. How the F'ing hell does the US have any rights to do that!
Doesn't it say that he visited USA?
If there is a kidnapping, it must be that British dude that is sent to USA for trial because of a ridiculous agreement between US and UK. Now there must be some kind of violation.
And for Piratebay, they are only targeting them specifically because it has a catchy name that people will remember. Its a fear tactic.
And because all there warning letters were ridiculed? It is not a scare tactic because of a name, but because of the nation. The companies want to make example and send a message that you are not safe even outside of USA. However it will backfire because those retards don't understand that there will be a major consequence if they lose. This is not one of those cases where they harass random people whose names were found in a telephone catalogue.
The pirate bay has backing of Pirate Bureau, media (powerful thing these days in terms of politics) as well as the Pirate party and Carl Lundström who was funding them and is a rich entrepreneur... actually the only one having 2 lawyers in this trial, one being a specialist in copyright laws. What will happen when TPB will be found not guilty? It is not one of those "ok, you are free to go, we will all forget everything tomorrow. No, tomorrow all people will still be waving pirate flags and not only will the pirating activity increase, but general population will engage on a political level.
So this may very well be the first battle in a war "personal freedom vs internet control"
