Hey all, I was wondering if they are any apps where it shows clock, calendar and weather in the same fashion as rocketdocket.  And I'm not talking about Window's Sidebar...I honestly think it's crap.  I mean is there any customizable app where you can integrate apps with the desktop like Rocketdocket!

I'm finding that object dock is a lot different than before now.  It's nice.

I'm seriously loving the rocketdocket!  Thanks Daedolous for the heads up!

As for Emerge and objectdock, I'm gonna check it out later when I get off work.  The both look pretty damn cool--thanks for the pointers, mgz and fohfoh.

Honestly though, I just want a nice clock to be embedded into my desktop.  Also, I'm starting to get into the whole windows customization thing! =D

And may not be around for long unless they pay up.

meh, thats if they violate the patent, them being similar doesnt nesecarilly mean they have used the patented specifications.

Not to mention if memory serves things like rocket dock are freeware and never does anyone much good to chase after freeware

I have both object dock and rocket dock.

I had to switch off object dock as it frequently crashed when I played games, where as rocket dock was/is much more resilient.

the old object dock would have issues once in a while when I played CS, but only when CS had video issues. (showing a 480 screen instead of an 800 during alt+tab)

But yeah, object dock is kind of cool. Esp the weather thing.

The other programs that the site offers are neat too. I checked out the moving back ground app and it's not bad. Sure, you don't get to use your desktop... but for me, it's basically what happened back in the day with litestep so I'm fine with it. (couple it with object dock or rocket dock and who techincally needs a desktop anyways?) but you need to pay 20 bucks for the full ver. (haven't found a torrent for it)

The Stardock products have certainly improved a lot in the past few years. I remember running WindowBlinds and ObjectDock on Win98SE somewhere between 2000 and 2003 and they were some of the crashiest, most-resource hogging, and generally slow apps available. It really made me long for good 'ol Kaleidoscope (old pre-OS X theme app, took a few kilobytes of RAM at most, added absolutely no speed hit, and was rock-solid stable).

I've just installed Emerge Desktop and I don't get how to use it.  lol

mgz, how do you use Emerge?  Sorry, I'm the least technical person on this far side of the planet.  I thought Emerge would be as easy as RocketDocket but it isn't.  I'll spend a lil' more time on it when I have free time.

more or less you no longer have a start menu like standard windows, you icons arent on your desktop.

Left click and youll get the equivalent of your start menu and then some.
then go to settings and launch applet.

Now i run emergedesktop.exe
emergecore.exe
and emergetray.exe and nothing else in this shell
to add new applets click the paper with a green plus sign and select the thing you want to run
once you have started it running, save it and click out and your good to go once you start it.
Stop anything you dislike in the shell.
It will make your windows startup much faster,.

And check out the program MINImize its fucking awesome when you minimize windows it makes them into little like 1" squares with either the icon for the item or a screen cap basically of where it was when you minimized and you just double click it to maximize the thing.

Setup your rocket dock for stuff you use constantly at least thats what i did.
Other then that, not to much to really figure out i mean there is prolly a shit ton of more in depth shit you can do but thats what im doing.
I dont have a clock as most of the clock addons either werent free or were fucking stupid.
So i gave up on it. Although rocket dock has a clock thing i think.
To get to My documents i just open up my computer and go to it from there same with control panel

http://aquaria.za.net/
is the link for the minimize program i love it. Only had it crash like once. And it was when a bunch of other things crashed too cuz of my cod4 going all buggy

Sweet!  Will most definitely try it out when I get home.  I was quite overwhelmed when I realized it wasn't as simple as Rocketdocket.  But yo, thanks for the help!  =D

it is nearly as simple as rocket dock it just is for something completely different then rocket dock.
