There wasn't.
Well, up until the end (click to show/hide)both possible resolutions(all contractors disappearing or japan blowing up) would make it hard to make a second season, but in the end none of those happened. Ok, well, it did happen but then it got reversed. Did you actually watch last episode?

I did, but remember... it's been a long time since I watched it... gonna have to dig up the DVD I archived it on and watch it again before I get started following season 2

Since some people disliked the ending I thought that someone might've persuaded you not to watch the last episode ;D God knows that there are some titles I wish i did just that... Not this one though.

No.. When I start a series, I finish it unless it is just excruciatingly painful to watch...
