A few questions though, to put my mind at ease:

(click to show/hide) On the last episode, Chihiro tries to forget Renji but fails to do so because she could not get him out of her mind, they embrace and happy ending! There is also a cut scene in which her chained self breaks free from those ungodly bonds. What does that mean? Does she consciously have to keep on thinking about Renji to remember him past 13 hours? Is that what that scene symbolized? Or did that scene symbolize one thing she was able to remember past 13 hours, thus breaking that limit? Will she continue to remember him?
Also, since I finished Memories I have a couple of questions about Melodies;

Chronologically, I heard Melodies is full of flash backs, the scenes that aren't flashbacks, are they set before or after the events of memories? If I ever see Renji again in Melodies, I want to see him with Chihiro! XD (Is Renji in Melodies?)

I know I shouldn't be asking this and to just watch to find out, but I have a lot of work to do so no anime for me (at least not for a few days) and I want something to look forward to.

Thanks!

To put it simply, the minor characters or secondary characters that appear in Memories become the main characters in Melodies and via versa. Melodies tells completely different stories from Memories but it's also in the same time-line. Most scenes in Melodies are set before the time of Memories (you'll notice them), some are during and a lot of them are after the events of Memories.

Just watch Melodies. It is worth it.

This.  I love this show, both Melodies & Memories, about equally.  Coincidentally, I introduced it to my roommate recently and we've watched the first 9 eps of Memories so far.  I adore the cinematography, the music, the characters, really the whole thing.

I consider Ef to be one of the shows I would want to share with someone who knows what anime is, but doesn't take it seriously and has seen very little.  Ef, Macross Frontier, Black Lagoon, Record of Lodoss War, and Gundam 0083 are IMO some great shows to 'wow' a new potential anime fan and really draw them into the medium.  (I realize that 0083 & Lodoss are a bit dated now, but they impressed the hell out of myself and my friends back in the mid 90s.)

Thanks you for all the feedback! Will start on Melodies when I free up some time!

Started watching memories now, is a divided story? About a guy Hiro and a guy Renji apparently?

Belmakar:
You're doing it wrong... You are supposed to see Memories first, and continue with Melodies... that way everything (kinda) makes sense ;)
