Its a very useful thing in life. Especially since I plan on moving out soon. Don't know how these anime characters survive on instant food alone. Tried it before, was horrible and couldn't last. Ehh. Katsura is a nice girl, just don't grab her knife :P

I meant to type don't make her grab her knife. Whoops. I think I'll avoid girls with knives for the time being.

ANE released a 10-bit version of both Memories and Melodies. Grab them from on BBT.

Worth re-watching just for the 10-bit ...

I finished watching a tale of memories, LOVE IT!

A few questions though, to put my mind at ease:

(click to show/hide)

Also, since I finished Memories I have a couple of questions about Melodies;

Chronologically, I heard Melodies is full of flash backs, the scenes that aren't flashbacks, are they set before or after the events of memories? If I ever see Renji again in Melodies, I want to see him with Chihiro! XD (Is Renji in Melodies?)

I know I shouldn't be asking this and to just watch to find out, but I have a lot of work to do so no anime for me (at least not for a few days) and I want something to look forward to.

Thanks!

To put it simply, the minor characters or secondary characters that appear in Memories become the main characters in Melodies and via versa. Melodies tells completely different stories from Memories but it's also in the same time-line. Most scenes in Melodies are set before the time of Memories (you'll notice them), some are during and a lot of them are after the events of Memories.

Just watch Melodies. It is worth it.

This.  I love this show, both Melodies & Memories, about equally.  Coincidentally, I introduced it to my roommate recently and we've watched the first 9 eps of Memories so far.  I adore the cinematography, the music, the characters, really the whole thing.

I consider Ef to be one of the shows I would want to share with someone who knows what anime is, but doesn't take it seriously and has seen very little.  Ef, Macross Frontier, Black Lagoon, Record of Lodoss War, and Gundam 0083 are IMO some great shows to 'wow' a new potential anime fan and really draw them into the medium.  (I realize that 0083 & Lodoss are a bit dated now, but they impressed the hell out of myself and my friends back in the mid 90s.)
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

You're doing it wrong... You are supposed to see Memories first, and continue with Melodies... that way everything (kinda) makes sense ;)

Watch Memories first then watch Melodies. You'll understand everything in time. :P

Well I've gone ahead and continued watching.. I guess I've gotten used to the voices, at least the series is good (so far) tho I think how I'll watch Melodies subbed. How did you all watch it?

I just finished Melodies, gotta say I love it!

(click to show/hide)

Although there are heart breakers here and there, you got to love how this anime balances the sour with the sweet. :)

...It's going to be a strange experience for me to watch all the Higurashi's + Another + Shiki after watching this... damn thats one steep paradigm shift...

I'm a bit confused regarding episode 10 of Melodies -- the BD torrents have "color version" and another version.
What is the meaning of this!!  ;D

Which is the "real" version of the episode?  I.e. is one version part of the bonus content on the disc or something?
Thanx

I didn't realize there was a thread for this series but it certainly isn't a surprise.

I finished Tale of Memories a couple of weeks ago. Pretty damn good if you are a sucker for anime romance. The first few episodes gave me the impression it would be pretty emotional but I only teared up once, maybe twice the entire show. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it very much.

I think I am beginning to develop a fetish for girls with eye patches.  :-*

I can't wait to get a chance to watch Melodies.

Get a bucket and few tissues. You're so going to need them.

That advice came a little late for me, I hate to admit it but I cried.
