« on: February 26, 2009, 04:22:58 AM »

The story revolves around the protagonist Hirono Hiro, a poor high school boy who draws shoujo manga for his living. One cold Christmas night after meeting a very strange woman in a church, who tells him that he's going to meet someone he has to meet, his bike gets stolen by another strange girl. He runs after her and finds her collapsed on the street. Her name is Miyamura Miyako and her bag got stolen by a man on a motorbike. Soon after, they start hanging out together, enjoying highschool life. Miyako falls for Hiro pretty quickly but naturally finds a rival in his childhood friend, Shindou Kei, who has been dictating Hiro's life since ever.

Melodies Description: The anime once again tells two stories. The first story takes place in the past. Himura Yuu meets a girl, Amamiya Yuuko who seems to know him, but he doesn't know her. However, he soon remembers that she was a girl whom he knew from long ago. Yuuko then tells him something which he never knew. He was her first love since then, and her first love has not ended yet. The second story takes place in the present, just after the events of ef - A Tale of Memories. Shuuichi Kuze meets the cousin of Aso Renji, Hayama Mizuki and spends a lot of time with her. Unknown to Mizuki, Kuze had contracted a fatal illness and has little time left to live. Kuze had decided to break all romantic ties, but things go bad when Mizuki tells him that she loves him.(ANN)

.: NOTES :.
* Memories & Melodies are both TV Series spanning 12 episodes each.
** Memories is the first season that should be watched followed by Melodies. Note that the major and minor characters in Memories will swap places in Melodies; meaning that the major characters in Memories become the minor characters in Melodies, as the minor characters in Memories become the major characters in Melodies.
*** Memories and Melodies play amazing opening and ending themes, as the both songs will swap during the middle of the series to the second course of the song (first half of the song plays in the first half of the season, as the second half of the song plays in the second half of the season. Memories and Melodies have their own separate unique songs).
**** Memories & Melodies were both created by SHAFT, famously known for Maria+Holic, Bakemonogatari, Natsu no Arashi series and other great series out there.
***** Memories shares unique items, events, places and different time lines along side with Melodies. Take note of character's age as it is the most important thing, their belongings, the places they attended, items they take or give away as it develops very well between all characters and through-out both seasons.
****** It is recommended to grab a lot of tissues and to let your family and/or friends know you don't want to be disturbed while watching Memories and Melodies.

Just started on this series. I gotta admit, the art design and camera angles are very unique in this anime. I like'em. So the first EF ~ Tales of Memories was kinda "half & half" ... it wasn't all there. There was too much talking from first person views and couple of dull moments, I honestly forgot somethings in that series. As for this one, it seems to pick up rather pretty fast and well, I'm liking this alot. I'm half way through the first episode and just hit the intro song theme and you darn know I'm gonna go snatch that one! I like the song alot, whatever its called.

Now, to continue ...

Seeing this thread gave me a good excuse to start watching this series. I adored the first ef series, gave it 9/10...I watch a lot of "based on visual novel" anime, and memories could've easily been just one of the crowd, if not for all the unconventional artwork and visual metaphors. In the first ep of melodies, I'm already seeing some similarities to PaniPoni Dash, also by the same director. A friend of mine IRL said that melodies was on par with the first series when it comes to sadness, although it's not too apparent from the first. That Mizuki girl was pretty cool...she's the kind of character that people who don't like moe will hate on principle, but she reminded me of a slightly more worldly Misuzu Kamio.

And that masta playa violinist..."if you're dating 2 girls, it's a fight, if you're dating 20, it's a competition" ahahahaha. Looking forward to more antics from him.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

I swear a god that's like one of the best quotes ever. I even put it in my memories webpage. And yea, I am gonna take his advice for real this time. I'm gonna try it out and see how the girls go about.

Killzone 2 is sucking my time, hardcore. x_x;; The game is too beautiful, too realistic to let go. I'll get back on track with Melodies later on tonight. I want to drain my life out with this game, first.

I have no words to describe this anime ... There are no words that exist to describe it that I can think of.

None of those. Eternity and Infinity don't fit to describe this series. I can tell you that I haven't really been moved in such a long, long time since Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, and haven't cried as much since that anime as well, like real tears. I feel so embarassed saying those things, but well ... it did happen. But again, no words can describe this anime, they don't exist.

If i recall correctly! i love on one of the first episodes (when the chick goes to his house)
that she says "i like raw concerts" and he thinks "i like it raw too without condom"
or was it just my imagination?

oh my god, lol. i'm gonna snipe your head if you ever come on Killzone 2. YES, PICK IT UP! it's a very good series, and one of the best. AfterStory supposely to be even better (haven't seen it yet, waiting till it is completed). You should pick it up and finish it, there is a 24 episode span (23 in total, 24th is a DVD version), there is also a movie that was released which would cover the first half of Clannad and then pushes even further to tell a bit more about whats going to happen in Clannad ~ AfterStory.

Anyways man, you really did enjoy EF ~ A Tale of Melodies as much as me so I can tell you Clannad will definitely NOT be a disappointment!
