You could find the willpower to post between two ef episodes?! 

Which one is more hard-hitting. Memories, or Melodies?

Memories is more heart-warming while Melodies is sadder.

That's all I can say. Other than that, I find any comparison to be meaningless. It's just two amazing pieces of art.

l'll hold you up on that, suprisingly l have all eps of memories now except ep 1 (80%) lol for fucking godly annoyance, all the more reason to spank all gods hahahahah.

Yea, Memories is there with some drama. All the minor characters you see in Memories will eventually become the main characters in Melodies, as all the main characters in Memories become the minor characters in Melodies. Melodies will make you weep, it's a very sad story ... it made me cry for days. -sniffs-

I kinda knew what was going to happen in Memories, the setting was wrong part that I got. But the whole thing, the situations that happened was stunning. Melodies, on the other hand, I couldn't predict at all and I kept thinking to myself "Nah, doubt it" about Yuuko and ... well, it was. But like the last episode and at the end of it, it was very ... very depressing. =[

The keys to the school play a big role in the anime as well.

Huh, i didn't find the ending of melodies depressing at all, I actually found it to be just for the series.

I felt that everyone was able to find thier love, even if it was for a fleeting moment.  They were able to change and grow, and live a better life because they accomplished great things by overcoming themselves, fears, others, thier past and thier own inner ghost.  With that if felt actually uplifted at the end, even if a character was never able to be with his one true love ever again, he was able to be with her for one last time.

That is, IMO, the biggest contrast between Melodies and Memories.

In Memories, all ends well. While it is true that Chihiro is stuck with her illness, she had Renji by her side. While Key did not get to be with Hiro, she still has him by her side and she moves on toward in life. While Miyako has still to find her path, she has Hiro by her side. She has a place to go to. Hiro stopped being half-assed at everything, started to enjoy his life more and he got a hot girlfriend.

Really, even if they had challenges, they overcame them. The overarching message (because there are far more than just one) sent across is that we can overcome the hardships. That, while life has downs, there are ups and it is up to us to make them happen.

Melodies, however, is much, much sadder.

While in Memories "everything" can be overcome, in Melodies, everything must be endured. What the main character face is unavoidable has to face the loss of his loved one. As for Kuze and Mizuki, they together have to face an incurable illness which will inevitably result in death. When you compare those problems to the ones in Memories, it's two completely different magnitudes as, no matter what happens, the rape will still have occurred and the dead ones will still be loss. All we can do, is cope. Life is hard, life is unfair. All we can do is treasure the good memories and survive the bad ones.

I made my girlfriend watch Memories. She said that they stopped the story where all was well. that later on, they would have new hardships.

I don't think that she would say the same thing about Melodies. In that aspect, Melodies is depressing. While it's still a positive message, it also has a lot of reality in it. Memories is viewing the world through pink glasses. That's what makes it pretty. It's heart-warming in the end.

Melodies does not do that. It shows the world as it is: hard but somehow still beautiful. That's what makes it so powerful.

For that, it's very likely for someone to be depressed by the "hard" aspect.

Anyway, that's what I think.
