Get Backers
« on: February 27, 2009, 06:35:39 PM »
I watched the first episode of this and it was entertaining, but after watching the episode preview for the next one, I have a quick question for anyone that's seen the whole thing.  Does the show have any kind of overall plot/story I can look forward to unfolding (if so, is it any good?) since I know it only has 49 episodes... or is it kind of like Detective Conan/Case Closed (though that actually did sort of have an overall plot, getting whats-his-face normal again) where every episode is a different case?

And, while I'm at it, what are your takes on the series?  Any good?  Should I just stop now lol? :P  Thanks in advance!

most of getbackers' episodes follows a plot. the pilot episode simply introduces the characters.

Alright, guess I should watch some more then before jumping to any conclusions.  Do you guys recommend it/is it good beyond the first episode?

I personally only liked the Stardust opening theme.
It started good, but started to drag on for too long.

Ahhh the getbackers anime, you are better off reading the manga if you want the true plot. If you don't mind the half made up plot then the anime is rather entertaining and features some fun stuff not a part of the manga. It will get a few spots of filler style episodes but overall it's a B rated anime. The manga though is where it's at*nods* I started collecting it and it has bigger fights, bigger bad guys, bigger boobs(for those who are interested), and a much bigger plotline.

Hope that helps any little bit

i disagree that this is a B-rated anime

i have seen it, and i liked it a lot,
also a lot of my friends liked it.
although yeah the plot is a bit half-ass,
but still it has a lot of humor and good fights in it.

so definately worth watching

So and you can't get entertained by b-rated animes? ;)
The mangaka of Fullmetal Alchemist loves b-movies (and I think it is noticeable in the manga >.>).

@topic
The anime of Get Backers leaves many things open. That is unsatisfying.
It entertained me too, mostly, some eps were pretty lame though. So I'd suggest you watch up to ep 10 and when you're not interested anymore, drop it.

"The anime follows the original storyline until the 25th episode. Afterwards, it introduces stories not found in the original although some episodes are similar to some chapters of the manga and the same characters are introduced, but with different characteristics."

"Numerous publications for manga, anime and related media have written on the series. Reviewers commented that fans of the anime may end up surprised when they will read the manga. The series has been praised for using the "simple concept" in order to create a good plot. The manga has been noted to have a large number of types of fan service, showing several kinds of beautiful women and noted a "relationship" between the two main characters and giving the series a nice bishōnen tone. The art of Rando Ayamine has been praised for having the dark and gritty mood emphasizes he makes in the series making readers think that the Jagan scenes of Ban Mido is a "horrifying nightmare". The Tokyo Pop translation of the manga has been criticized for making the main characters sound like gangsters giving them strange dialogues."

I think that it's incomplete. It's a great anime. Manga's greater. I wish they'd make a 2nd season.
