Well, on what is good in life, Conan said it best:

"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women."
Same vein, a lot more succinct.

it wouldn't surprise me if the writer of Conan was inspired by the great Khan.

Well, he is seated amongst some Mongols in that scene. Don't remember if Robert E. Howard wrote that line as it stands.
