Nickname explanations?

Hmm ... long story.
Well, back in the mid 1980's I was heavily into TSR paper and pencil rpg's. One of my fave creatures therein was the Myconid - a 1eADnD monster introduced in module A4 and drawn by Erol Otus. I loved it. Years after it first was printed about I randomly generated a Marvel pc and after making an extreme effort to try and bring some semblance of order out of the results I decided on using the Myconid as the "model" to do so and created a "super powered alien" that was a giant fungus at the same time and gave it the name "Mycanid".
Since then the nickname has stuck....

Why? Why not? Those who know what it means probably wouldn't chose it for themselves; those who don't know what it means probably wouldn't pick it. It makes it easier for me.

Well I'm known as Shaggy since 2001, so that's like my second name, the numbers 410, came from the history I created for a character in a role playing game, that's why my nick is Shaggy410 ;D ;D ;D ;D
