Okay, maybe its down to where I live then, most people I know aren't gamers (so no nicks) and those that are don't get called by their nicks IRL.

well I have no friends games and I myself dont play that much games...well addicted to tetris now, but I do not think that does not make me gamer....

Most of my fiends also have had or still have nick name that they are called by
People in my home love giving nicknames to each other, not quite sure why, but they do even if they are common nicknames

...Men are so necessarily mad that it would be another twist of madness not to be mad...

I bet they even pronounce it the way you spell it here.

I pronounce it the same as I would my actual name...

My name comes from "Mizu". One day I was bored and thought what will happen if I add "O" in "Mizu" and that's how my name was born.

Though its a different spelling it is the same way that you say my surname, back in school noone called me by my first name so when I first started joining forums I changed the spelling to get Koeshi and have stuck with it ever since.

Why did people only call you by your surname? I see that often between members of a sport, but everyone in school?
People sometimes use the shorter name, which sometimes is easier, so they often use surname instead of first name, I had the pleasure of being called by my short version of my name or my surname, depending how many guys by my name were in my class in school. When I was the only one that day I was called by name or short of it, when I was not  the only one we were called by surnames, only teacher used our first names, you really know when a teacher talks to you and not the other person lol.

My screen name has had a few variations.  It started out as simply "Zephyr", a word for a gentle wind.  I've always liked wind and storms, and in video games it's usually my elemental affinity.  I also thought it was cool-sounding and suitable for a person's name.  I eventually modified it because it was sometimes taken already on websites and games.

I ended up settling on the gendered "Zephyria", which sounds like "Valkyria" (for those familiar with the game series/anime).  Also "Zephie" for short~

Cool, you have the same name as the best character from SSBM (whom they cut from the sequel, 'em eejits)!

Also, even though my nick sounds like it for some people, I am not actually against books.

Pff, Marth can't make himself explode.

Anyway, Jigglypuff is still my favourite.

i play melee, so i don't know what an ike is. if it's anything like a royboy in melee then play marf. marf has an f-smash that will make you rage quit at 7 seconds. marf also has some finesse, royboy is all power and is relatively easy to evade and kill with a fax mccloud. you might run into a sticky patch or two trying to evade the umbrella that is marf's sword as fax mccloud. rule-makers forbid you have to play him on yoshi's story.

my name comes from my horrible grasp of the japanese language and morphemes/phonemes.

{[gen] -> (hopefully) meaning "reality" and [kami] -> "god"} altogether making a "god of reality". a proxy, as in Ergo Proxy is one such being.
