I have a question about large/extra large swords with their slow speed. Isn't there a stats that would allow you to increase the speed of your swings/recovery after swings? Shouldn't that be DEX?

I've looked into building a Paladin, thou that's a hybird class. I'm more than likely to stick to a VIT/END/STR and if DEX does increase attack speed then I'll pour points in there, too. I've always been a tank in WoW so I love holding insane large shields and heavy-type weapons. I had Breath of the Dying, Zerker for D2 and for WoW I've had just about every 2H type of weapon.. some of the rarest (stopped playing a year and a half ago). Last one I had was Armaggedon in WoW and ... I forgot what Axe was there but it was a lot better than the sword. I have Ashkandy and Hand of Rag x.x ... I have so many weapons... so many, so many...

There's no stat/item or anything else that increases swing speed of a weapon. tbh it's one of the beauty's of this game that each wep has a certain speed and unique attack animations. If you plan on doing pvp then you might want to rethink the idea of heavy armor as it interfers with stamina regain and also you gain max stamina at 40 END (Further points only increase equip weight). for pvm any build is cool. though if you plan on capping your self at SL 120 like many people do your going to find you won't have the stat points to do so many things at once. To get around that problem i'd say go with a build that uses Northern Regelia. It's a great sword that gets all it's attack power from character tendency instead of your stats, which means your free to put your stat points elsewhere. most people use this to make VIT builds that have 50+ VIT which gives them a ton of survivablilty (At the 120 SL cap ofc). A word of warning; to use the heaviest weapons + armor will require a stupid investment in END -my guess is a minimum of 60-70 END- or constant use of the ring that gives u +50% equip weight. I don't know about you but i consider it a waste of a ring slot.

Though if you wanted to go with a build that plays like a paladin would try a Faith build. there beasts in both pvm + pvp which normally use things like blessed Mirdan Hammers/Knight swords/Large sword of moonlight or that super spear i can't remember the name of. they also get plenty of faith based powers. hmm, this makes me want to delete my mage char (Or i could delete my blueblood user) and build a faith char instead =P just so u know mages have got the short end of the stick cuz anti magic field makes a player immue to magic for it's duration.....which would be fine if it wasn't such an easy spell to get hold of.

if theres any other items you want let me know and i'll see what i can do.

Well so far I just want the Keel Smasher and have a taste of it. How about that Moonblade? Do you have another one you don't need? I saw someone hit Flamelurker with two hander (and had that regen shield on his back). He was insane to fight Lurker 2H. I took 70% of the aggro so he can hit him from behind/sides. But one of his swings would do so much damage. I was doing like 120ish per swing with my Bastard Sword+5 with shield on my left arm. This game is so addicting now ...

Nikran:
you mean the large sword of moonlight. it's not actually a super strong weapon; what it does is it completely ignores sheilds, so a sheild is useless against it. If it did huge damage to flamelurker must be because he has massive physical defense but low magic (As the large sword of moonlight deals only magic damage). I could be wrong completely though and it might be another reason. Oh and this peep u saw must have been good to do flamelurker without a sheild by just dodging alone. I can 2 hand my weapon against maneater (Curse that monster) but i only survive in the end by keep total protection up at all times.

I probably have the sword of moonlight, if i don't i can go pick it up easy enough. but you need around 24 faith just to use it btw.

fohfoh:
I 2 hand maneater and flame lurker all the time.

Flame lurker is EASY. Just run around the damn pillar and smack him with magic. Maneater is a douchebag.

But that was my magic guy. My Melee guy, yes maneater pretty much MUST be 2 handed. WTF is the use of a shield. His shit is magic so you take damage anyways. Chuck the shield so equip is below 50% and actually DODGE. Rip off your helmet or w/e too. An extra 16 def is useless if you're taking like 200-16 damage instead of 0 when you dodge correctly. You should be running back and forth across the bridge to separate the two, run to the site, swipe at his tail to cut off the snake (1-2 swings max) then dodge his attack and repeat till dead. Then move on to the other maneater.

Put it this way. The big circle bang magic thing. Shield does shit.
The auto aim 3 green line thing. Again shield is useless.
Pounce. you get knocked to the side and off the bridge easily if you do this.
Swipe. Dunno about you, but it fucks up your stamina fast making you easy target for pounce or his circle magic thing.

Flame lurker. The damn thing runs AWAY from you all the time anyways. It's easy to get away and heal. Which you should do. Not to mention you should be using the protection charm from tower knight so you're not taking much damage anyways. Just swipe at him, get behind the pillar (not right against pillar) and heal, redo charm etc. Don't run into the bones, that's stupid. Just circle the pillars which are beside the stairs. Most of his attacks would drain your stamina like nothing anyways leaving you open. So DROP THE DAMN SHIELD. 2 HAND IS NOT "AMAZING"! It's the smart thing to do to maximize your damage. The guy looks badass, he isn't badass at all.

I thought the sword of moonlight was based on your "faith" and no other attributes. It's not amazing strong, but good for chars with low STR and dex and can't use other weapons because they're focusing on miracles. (Or was it "luck"?)

I generally use a +6 Uchigatana most of the time. (Easy as hell to make). But +6 of any weap should be damn easy. Just buy the stones required from World 2.

Dragon long sword is a good one to upgrade and use. Very fast. The penetrator is easy to use too.

Nikran:
I mostly use melee chars so have to melee those two to death. for flamelurker i use whatever sheild i can, he's ok until he goes low life and takes his steriods. he trapped me in a corner once and giant fireballed me to death. Always go 2 handed against maneater, just i keep total protection/warding up at all times. anything maneater can dish out becomes puny with that spell up. main goal being try and slay the frist maneater before he can tag team u with his brother when it shows up.

Moonlight is only faith based from what i remember. it's alot better then blind though since u get some damage increase out of the moonlight.

fohfoh:
IMO the trick with flame lurker is to use a fast long range weapon. Spears, halberds, dragon long sword is useless due to flame damage but similar long swords/penetrator are good too help.

Hit, and run. Hit and run. Also make sure you're not a cheap ass for souls and using the ring of avarice, fragrant (disputable) and regenerator's or anything. Use useful things like flame resistance (which I never use), thief's ring (quite useful actually if you run fast enough out of view), etc. for flame lurker. A little more lenient with maneater as long as you don't fall out of rhythm.

But I seriously had no issues with maneater at all... and I didn't use my shield. Just protect and my halberd. I realized after being ganked so many times by maneater that I was still using protect and not ward. After swapping, I defeated maneater after about 3-4 tries. (Black world tendency made him a bit harder)
