Demon's Souls -- ORDER IT NOW!
AoG:
On NG you can tank the flamelurker easy. On my melee characters i hide behind a purple flame shield a ring of fire resistance and water veil or second chance. Then i just poke it with whatever spear i have lol. On my most recent mage i just rolled and dodged with my +4 crescent uchi he went down pretty fast.
With second chance though all bosses are pretty much easy mode except the maneater because he just rages and knocks you off the edge but then i rage harder and firestorm his ass lol.

120 is ok damage... not great... But that's what a winged spear does at like +3 and I'm pretty sure it's faster than the bastard sword.
I didn't go all out res when I first beat flamelurker. I got ganked like 50 times by maneater, got pissed as hell and stopped playing. Decided to look up how to beat him and realized I was using protect instead of ward. Decided to go finish world 2 to get my fully body back instead of soul form and destroyed him the first time I fought him. I use the standard temple knight stuff, halberd +6 (standard temple knight), silver catalyst and adjudicator's shield. Rings... I think I used Avarice and thief's ring lol.
I have not unlocked second chance on any of my chars yet. I might unlock miracles when I make a bow char, but all current chars went to unlock spells first. I need to beat it the second time around to get the rest of the spells and I need to beat the yellow ribbon crazy mage 1 more time. (Didn't opt for an insanity catalyst on melee char since it halves your MP and I only use magic on melee char for ward)

Yeah second chance is great i think the soul it uses(old heros) is only used for 2nd chance and the large sword of searching. It takes 2 miracle slots so you need 16 faith and it costs 100mp so you need 15 intelligence. But its so good i use it on every character and i do world 4-2 as soon as i can. A tip for doing it at a low level is to just run through it. i used to take 5 or 6 tries to do it on new characters that were around soul lvl 10 but i realized i could just run through the whole thing and get hit once or twice lol. The old hero is simple to beat to and it makes the rest of the game and pvp so much better with second chance.
Also try to specialize your characters so you can make use of the special upgrade paths. I would say dragon is the way to go if you don't it will make anything in NG simple. Also if your making a mage go for the crescent route for your weapons if you are going to get over 40 magic otherwise go moon. It works out that at 40 mage you get more attack power with crescent but before that you get more with moon.
Also i don't know how much pvp anyone does here but i am making a mage/melee build and i going to use a crescent uchi and a moon great sword and i was wondering if i should get 30 endurance instead of 40 since i will not be relying on my melee to deal all my damage
fohfoh:
It's hard to say. With less endurance, you have less resistance. So you better have a nice health bar to cover that. Mages still get hurt by magic. :P
Some guy invaded my world so I decided to pretend I was weak (on my mage) and use firestorm on him. (You know, the weak fireball thing that's great to chip away at small weaker guys and uses far less MP). Finally lured him out, and killed him in 3 shots with soul arrow. So yeah... be wary that just because you're a mage, some guy's PvM build can still surprise you. But even with his magic, I rarely took a lot of damage I'd let him chip me down to 1/3 and run away and heal. But it'd take him like 5-6 hits to bring me down that far. His build was just flawed, he was using "claw" to try and fight. Short range, + homing, + ward + soul arrow I think. I could have beaten him with my uchigatana if I wanted too. That and he kept hiding on the other side of a wall and waiting for me to go back so he could "ambush me". Not the brightest player.
Moon isn't that good for pvp. It's quite a bit slower. I dodge in pvp, I don't really block. Except for certain spells. Dark metal shield is great vs spells.
AoG:
I am not worrying about the extra 10 resistance points more about the extra stamina.
The spell you were talking about is fire spray and it is good for harassing opponents into doing something stupid. I have that and soul ray equipped and i hit them with fire spray till they run in and then i hit them with a soul ray which does about 400 damage for me i am soul lvl 50.
the moon upgrade doesn't slow your weapon down any. But i don't know if the greatsword is the way to go because it is slow but i want something big to keep people at bay while i switch between spells and eat spices and grass. But i have never used a greatsword so i don't know how people respond to it in pvp.
