I don't mind the memory stick. I just have to buy once and not really care. Technology drops so much all the time, why care about an extra 5-25 bucks here and there? I just buy a new stick of MSPD or SD(regular/micro etc usually high speed) when I get new technology anyways.
I recall paying 250 bucks for a 2GB high speed MSPD when the PSP was first released. (I got a gen 1) I still use that thing. xD I only recently spent a little to go from 4GB for my camera (high speed again, great for viewing pics in display... useless for just raw camera picture taking) I didn't have to upgrade, since it takes quite a bit for me to fill up 2GB with @ 5MP or 7MP but I just decided to drop a little bit. The old 2GB is currently being "readyboost" fodder for my laptop.
But then again, I just don't really give a shit.

I just buy whatever fits my needs and wants the best. It just so happened that my camera was Sony. (Not many metal casing cameras when I was looking, mainly just plastic ones) and same with my laptop. I was looking at Toshiba, got pissed, almost bought a HP till I saw the reports on the 8200/8400 nVidias, HATED Dell, no good acers, many Crappy Sonys... but I found a nice Sony one for a decent price.
I don't defend Sony's pricing, but I do admit that they sometimes have things with certain characteristics that appeal to me that don't appear in other brands. (My carbon fibre laptop or back in the day, a nicely weighted P&S with no external lens etc.)
