Well it's a post Bloodlines version as that's a Caldari Achura. Other than that it's impossible to say.
Edit: A bit digging around with img id indicates that the char was created 6/2 -09 so it would be Quantum Rise.

This one shouldn't be too hard I think.

I agree with erious that it's probably a cutscene. Circa 2002? I hope someone else knows.

The titles of the books are deutsch. The skull with elongated canines and the Zauberbuch (book of magic) puts it in a fantasy world. The presence of an orrery might give it a time setting of late renaissance to early industrial. And your hint about publishing date puts it ~2000.

Nothing is coming to mind, but I will see what I can dig up.
