Ok so, the fans itself, maybe... fans can be naive sometimes...no, maybe often... but hey, that's what happen when they love something yet they dont use their brains to compare from good to lousy ones..  :-\ oh well, then again, it cant be helped, the only way to prevent from getting pissed off is not to watch the damn shoujo ecchi genre...  ;D :D LOL *peace*

I think you also need to remember that many of these animes are based off of Mangas, so the manga is to be blamed. Or even better example: off of H-Games, Like school days, so the Anime has some obligation to show what the original author wanted.

but IIRC school days didn't really have a lot of fanservice.  Sure there was some naked girls sometimes, but for the most part it was hardly to show some bouncing boobs

school days, first 3 episodes were great ... 4th episode started to act different and by the fifth episode, ... it was so strange to see how characters changed, all cu'z of that dumbass male character. gah, i feel like breaking his teeth apart and sending him to a hospital. he so deserves it.

Even Rosario Vampire, while being fairly ecchi in the manga, was far too overdone in the anime.

I think the difference between fanservice and ecchi is whether or not you feel they're doing it to waste time.

Agreed in that case that the anime has more, but often its just the opposite. Tenjo Tenge is a great example.

The manga style is more conducive of those fan-service images, the artist can dedicate a certain portion from each chapter to some kind of fan-service shot, depending on the space available and the genera - and if they can't fit it in they use inserts and covers.

It's troublesome to bring it to anime, because with the medium change you're far more aware of the passing of time.

you guys are all american-ized. stop watching the fanservice shows if you dislike them this much.

i appreciate fanservice as much as they view it, uncensored.

I don't mind it, I just don't think it should interfere with the quality of the anime - and it gets redundant.

Pandering to fans is pretty common in modern Western animation (think something like Family Guy or The Simpsons). It doesn't lean towards sexual content but it amounts to the same. It's even a trend in many computer animated movies. I'm pretty sure I remember the last Shrek movies getting faulted for worrying too much about focusing too much on the "nudge, nudge, wink, wink" sorta mentality and not enough about the plot.

Either way, an anime centered around sexual fan service still comes across as a weak hentai. =/

Not familiar with a lot of anime, so I had to look it up. Reading wikipedia's synopsis of the first episode, I have to say I won't be rushing out to see it. =/

I very rarely drop a series entirely. I'll burn off or move to an external hard drive a series if it's not immediately worth watching. But if I were to add up all the series I have dropped before finishing, Ecchi ones would easily top the list in terms of genre. I'm not against nudity or sexual content, but the problem is the genre is an excuse for poor writing by flashing some tits. Often, these are not even particularly nice looking tits. The show is probably not going to be about a particularly mature romance. And as a comedy it's doubtful they're going to be particularly witty or funny. They as a genre aren't necessarily identical, but the details that separate them from each other are frequently unimportant and they're just going through the motions. Personality types defining characters are usually a pretty big part of this. Characters become defined by what eccentric stereotype they bring to the series.

I agree with all of that.  It really wasn't plausible how all the different girls kept hooking up with him.  I was glad to see some stupidity forcibly removed from the gene pool at the end of the anime. :)

Chrome Shelled Regios episode 11 is a perfect example. I mean, hell, the episode is titled Spa Resort Karian, and the anime itself revolves around the main character and the (surprisingly non-loli) harem somehow mixed into the storyline. Not that I'm complaining... :)

Another thing I despise...  When every girl has boobs that would break her back, or are three times the size of their head...

Eiken might be a bit overboard... but not many shows are *that* exaggerated.
