Judging by the light novel plot summaries, only a couple more girls are introduced in the next 2/3rds of the story written so far. So it looks like ~~character~~ harem member introductions should slow down pretty dramatically after this.

What the hell are you people reading? it's the other way around. 50% before, 50% DURING. Didn't anyone notice Touma talking to Mikoto about the magicians he's encountered IN CHAPTER 8? And the scene at the beginning of the anime is in the manga in chapter 6

Like Touma's memory loss... that got completely neglected after the father arc. And what's the deal with "Deep Blood"? Ok... so there's vampires, then how come not a SINGLE vampire was shown in the series? That went absolutely nowhere.

I hope season 2 does a better job than season 1.

The point is, you're dissing a continuous storyline. Touma's memory loss is expanded on later in the novels, like when

The anime only adapted the first 6 novels. You can't dis it for not expanding everything. That would ruin the possibilities of ANY continuations. At least appreciate it a bit

Seriously, so many people bitching about the story already that it's starting to piss me off. If you watch any other 52 or 76 episode series, of course it takes time to get to and resolve the main plot. At least we know that with the amount of character introduction so far that there's at least going to be some decent depth to the show.

Although some of the drama stuff did get a little repetitive with Touma and each girl, at least the series made fun of itself for that. You people should quit your bitching and keep an open mind for something that isn't even finished yet. So far I think it's a pretty damn decent show compared to others so far.

Remember guys, the number of EPs is limited not like Naruto, Bleach or other shonen (crap).

The shonen (crap) anime is like 300+ EPs and it's sure that they would get everything from the original story, they can use more time in the character development, and more time to describe.

I have watched this for 7 episodes now, and It looks decent.
Although I get a really weird Pokémon feeling from Touma, I don't know what it is.

This will take longer than excepted, but I'm still going to finish this, as always.
Does it get more interesting later?

Became interesting again with the well directed beginning of that sniper episode...but again turned slightly disappointing. As great as the animation is, wished it had a compelling story to go along with it. Ended up dropping it for better Fall and Winter series. Not saying it's bad, just that it had a lot of good competition. But going to give it another chance; just downloaded the complete torrent.

Most of the great series have ended. Hope Spring is half as good.

There's alot of holes left, but with the introduction of a new character you know there is going to be more in the next season. Plus, who is Index anyways? She almost has NO past but only in "words" from her two colleagues; Stle and Kanzaki (name spelling?) And that dude with the green short hair. So I mean there's alot to cover, and I doubt this series is anyways near just 2 seasons. I'm thinking 4 seasons at the very least. There are too many characters, there's tons of things to cover between those characters as well. And we should know how the pattern works ... Index will most likely leave Touma one way or another.

I don't read Manga, fyi. I don't like Manga. I like motion animation with sound.

And yea, the show does suck for its repetitive, non-stop talking people about their past and their emotions. That's not how you do these things. Drama should build it differently rather than expressing "omg, my friend, died, and .. well, i need revenge" what the fuck?! .... No, wait .. WHAT THE FUCK?! I had to put up with Naruto's stupid scheme just like this one. I dropped Bleach on episode 4 fearing it would turn out like Naruto (and I'm hearing it does turn out like Naruto) . So, the drama sucks ass. I've seen better series than this one. I'm disappointed.

It's like they couldn't decide on which direction to take, so they stuffed every damn story possibility into it, mashed it all together and came out with the disaster I just saw. The only one that was even touched upon was Misaka's, and she's getting the side story.

Yes, way too many holes. And I agree, if this only covered the first 6 novels and there's 19 already and still ongoing, there's going to be a lot more seasons coming. If there's some serious character development in them and there's an actual story... then all will be forgiven and I'll gladly rate the overall series higher. But honestly, I think giving this series an 8/10 is pretty damn generous at this point for all that it lacked... if this was all that was gonna come out, it'd be lucky to get a high 6/low 7 from me.

If that's what it would take to produce a better story, then yes! Even the coolest characters ever made can be driven into the ground by a weak story. And Index has some incredible characters... the best I've seen in a long while. But that's a moot point if they're not given the chance to develop.

Just because I hated the lack of a consistent story doesn't mean I hated the anime. Far from it. It was very fun and worth watching and I'm looking forward to seeing more. But it was a mindless watch, as the plot points were so far scattered that I didn't have to use my brain to follow it. And that for a potentially complex story isn't a good thing.

I both loved and hated episode 10... On the bright side, lots of Mikoto, unfortunately some of them get hurt, badly... I don't like to see girls get hurt. :'(
