White Album [S1/S2]
« on: March 31, 2009, 09:30:17 PM »
Just finished episode 1, pretty good. I like it. I heard there is going to be a season two around this fall.

I finished Over Drive a while ago and it was a very good sports anime. There were couple of fillers and repetitive animation scenes, but not too many. The last episode was a good episode, but the very ending ... meh. Would have loved a second season.

So now we have both 1080p and 720p, both in .flac sound formats. I'm wondering who have seen this and who is going to see it? This is a very good anime with a very bad cliffhanger for the second season. The second season will air this fall/winter (woot!).

I also want to get the OST music since we don't have them on BakaBT. I like the opening song and most of the songs in this anime. White Album's setting is also in the 1990's.

Oh my bad, I thought it was the 90s. How come the 1080p version has a bunch of "skips"? It's only playing @ 7400~ bits. I tested a 9400~bits 1080p video and it was working fine and flawlessly. It seems like the encoding was done with errors or something?

That's from 16 b-frames.

Easy method to fix: Download the 720p and enjoy it, because it looks the same at 1080p.

I have seen it and love it though I didn't understand parts of it. The reason for it is either the language barrier in the subs in combination to a rather difficult topic or because I watched it weekly and not in one go. But I will definitely watch the S2.

Seen it last night. It was pretty good.

Who else has the feeling that this is not going to end well?

16 b-what? Is it fixable?

Honestly, if the 720p is similar to the 1080p, then what's the point of uploading the 1080p? Is it the video's fault or something I'm missing?

From what I understood, the reasoning was "because we can and 1080p will be freeleech anyway" but I might have missed something.

B-frames. They are bi-directional frames, meaning they can reference data from either before or after them in order to assemble the image. The number ahead or behind they can go are reference frames, which in this case is 8. So, they are accessing either 8 frames ahead of them, or 8 frames behind them. 16 B-frames means that there can be a maximum of 16 of these in a row. My guess is it tried to assemble a frame from very little data, which requires a lot of CPU, resulting in the skip.

As to why the 1080p was uploaded, I don't know. I guess since it is free leech or something? It's not like it really hurts to have it up, as I don't see any other group doing this at 1080p Blu-Ray quality any time soon.

Do I have to really overclock my 2.4G Quad 2 Core cpu? x_x;; ... Isn't it enough? -sniffs-

I don't know. I would say it's a trap: you think you can view it and then it skips.

Well, at least it's freeleech...

When I load 1080p videos, with flac that is, it barely evens out to use all my processors at maximum, usually it renders at half the usage of each processor I have, about 35-45%. I've got 2x 8800 GT SuperClocked SLI-enabled with 8GB ram (4+ GB free). So it's definitely not my computer. It's the video.

KgNE (heavy drama) / School Days (I'm serious) / and Idol anime, nice romance, confusion, character development (and destruction). I so love this series. The ending is a big major cliffhanger so ... take the safe route and wait for the second season, or watch it and get miserable!

Yeah. That's what I meant and (I think) it's something kristen agreed to as well (since she suggests everyone to get the 720p).

School Days (I'm serious)
He is! There are clearly some School Days-like moments but it's more enjoyable than Screwed Days so far.

At least, for me it is. I know how much you like School Days. :P
