I too don't understand what the painting has to do with the whole plot.

she stays silent and recalls him giving her money. . .and then she has this i-had-sex-with-him-for-money face
she says "yeah. . .i just dumped him"

plus if I recall correctly she had some issues in the first season . . .i dont remember if they were money-related. . .
ive been searching my dvd's for the first season . .. i wanna look at it again!
