is this a remake of old story in a different light or a continuation ?

BTW, FMA was originally made by square right ? l mean, it's their plaything if l remember right ?

Yes, it is a remake of the original series more closely following the manga. Basically it ends up exactly the same as the original series in the beginning because the original followed the manga; however, about the time when the Elric brothers were left on the island it began to heavily deviate. The new series will not.

The manga and light novels were 'serialized' in the Square-Enix magazine. The video games were exclusively by Square-Enix. The anime is done completely by studio 'Bones'.

I'm greatly disappointed that it's a remake. I've watched FMA recently for the first time, really enjoyed it too. Now when I heard that there's a second season I was really excited but having started watching I'm kinda bored and having found out that it's a remake I'm probably not gonna continue watching it. I'll watch it in a couple of years I guess...

If you have read all the pages here then you should know that only the first episodes are remakes and that the rest is going to be manga content. Ask the others who have watched the first series where the first series stopped following the manga.

Right now, the story is starting to be different from the original one. For example, (click to show/hide)they haven't wrath so hopefully sooner or later new materials from the manga would start to pick up

I didn't read all the pages, but from what I gather it starts deviating at around episode 12. My options are either to skip episodes 4-12 or to wait for a bit and watch the whole thing...
