If it had frozen in time its be at the length of a small child, not fully grown out arm and if you llok close at his fingers on one of the close ups it almost looks like he was claws.
Besides they where talking about how Ed and Al could have fussed during the inital transmutation so they might try and tie that together with his toned out arm. Oh and Ed didnt really pull out the metal beam from his arm, it some how freed it self from the block of cement and then he just simply yanked it out.
And as to what havok was saying, He was completly pis that Al sacrificied himself for Ed so duh he went crazy and when ppl go crazy they do crazy things. Oh and So what they only beat them down when they where half dead/by surprice its street combat and war, a Kill is a Kill and those that live are the winners. Every single Homunculus where killed by surpeice attacks or taken advantage of thier weaken state. now that I think about it, the only 2 that got straigh beat down where Sloth and Envy(2nd time he got beat down)
And yeah they probably did it to buff up the excitement but Damn ppl get back in there, Armstrong and Mustang both got up again, get back in there! :-P

Most of the character development has been wasted in the last 10 episodes IMO.
The story expanded significantly for a series of episodes (roughly for 30+ episodes) during which I literally lost the character count. Most of the important (?) characters are still carried to the final episodes (some of them dead) but they are only shouting and wasting dialogs. They are following the manga version, I understand that but could be better.
May the mangaka were forced to conclude the story idk.
Now most of those episodes I enjoyed look like filler episodes. May be that was the plan :D

Envy killed himself, he was only beat downed by Mustang, but he did the finishing blow to himself cuz he couldn't handle the truth, or he did and he didn't want to continue his pathethic existance.
Lust was killed outright in combat by mustang
Sloth was killed by "the housewife and her hubby"
Gluttony was eaten by Pride
Pride was killed by Ed, his host was saved tough
Wrath was killed by Scar, didn't vanish tough, prolly cuz he used up his stones in combat and was meant to age.
Greed is stil lalive and kickin ass, at least he was, Father tried to eat him but failed.
so there you go, the full list.
Father is weakened because he absorbed the soul of the GOD entity and is losing because they make him use up souls to make him lose control of GOD entity, his phisical and mentasl state are weakening, and since everyone is injured and ED was closest to him he aproached him to make him a stone, Al gave up his soul to make his arm reappear.
the sole purpose of fighting a powerful enemy is to weaken them to a beatable level, it's basic combat, even during war, armies try their best to weaken the enemy to crush them, if you have a problem with anyone whipping a weakened enemy ass blame those that actually made the basics of combat, a lvl 1 character stands no chance against a lvl 70 character, thats logical, so in order to win you should weaken the enemy to a state where you can do something to it (lower defense, poison, lower attack, put some curse etc)
l don't know how you intend to defeat something in close combat when you can't even get close to it, if you didn't plan on weakening the opponent. suicide ftl.
