Well you never know.When people are in despair they do things that otherwise they wouldnt.When he lost his mother he did know wat would happen but still tried(it was the grief that motivated him)

Well you never know.When people are in despair they do things that otherwise they wouldnt.When he lost his mother he did know wat would happen but still tried(it was the grief that motivated him)

No he didn't. When he tried to ressurect his mother he had no idea that he's ressurect:
A) Someone completely different
B) Half of someone
And he also didn't know he'd lose his leg and all of his brothers body.
He is now well WELL aware that human transmutation is nigh impossible.

He knew it was banned/outlawed/whatever, but he didn't know the specifics.
That's why he was so sure it would work.

As Kyoraku posted, he didn't have much information about it when he was a kid... and yeah he was a kid.
He's an adult now and after all he has been through it wouldn't happen...
