Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Havoc10K:
actualy they know that Human transmutation IS possible, but, it doesn't work the way the want it to.
Faerwon:
Actually, we have plenty of examples of human transmutation working within the series itself.
However, we have several attempts of human transmutation to resurrect the dead, and all of those failed horribly. They all received a punishment for their arrogance, because "Truth/World/God" keeps things in order and those souls have already "moved on". They do seem to linger on for a while, since Edward was able to attach Alphonse's soul to the armor. Also Barry, Slicer brothers. Eventually the soul will reject the foreign container, so you might be able to permanently resurrect someone if you did it very soon after they died, after repairing their body of whatever it was that killed them.

so im rewatching the original series, then im either going to read the manga (never did) or watch brotherhood. Havent decided which first. Hell if anyone has an opinion on if i should read the manga or watch brotherhood first, im open to hear them
anyway i snagged the whole thing but im a bit confused about the specials. ADB lists about 4
S1 "Hagane no Renkinjutsushi" Complete Clarification!!
S2 Blind Alchemist
S6 Simple People
S10 Tales of the Master / Master`s First Love Story
and myanimelist (which usually gives more info on stuff like that) lists about 3
-------
1. Fullmetal Alchemist: The Blind Alchemist (Moumoku no Renkinjutsushi)
Based on a side story of "Fullmetal Alchemist" manga published in "Fullmetal Alchemist Perfect Guidebook" (2003). It's about a blind alchemist Jude, who serves the Humbergang family. He once violated the taboo of the Alchemy.
2. Fullmetal Alchemist: Simple People (Shinpuru na Hitobito)
A story about Riza (why she let her hair grew longer) and Winry (why she had her ears pierced and how she got her earrings).
3. Fullmetal Alchemist: Tales of the Master
Based on a side story of "Fullmetal Alchemist" manga, the third OVA is about Edward and Alphonse's master Izumi Curtis.
The story is compiled of two parts. The first part shows how Izumi (then 18 year old) survived in the Mt. Briggs to become an apprentice of a renowned alchemist. The second part shows how Izumi and Sig met and their love at first sight.

So basically im not really sure what the deal is here. Are there 3 or 4 specials? whats the S1 "Hagane no Renkinjutsushi" Complete Clarification!! one listed on ADB? Can someone clear this up for me? Im also wondering if any groups have done these. It seems eclipse didn't. I would definatly like to snag these for watching as well when i go through brotherhood. Im also wondering where they fit in viewing wise
Im aware of the little short gag ones too but im not as interested in those
Kyoraku:
Depends on your preferred medium.
Brotherhood follows the manga pretty damn well, and all the fights are animated, so I'd say go for that.
And the OVAs just go in anywhere really. There's no huge revelations that'll affect the storyline in them.
kenshin-dono:
so as far as viewing order goes, i should probably watch brotherhood first THEN read the manga? Does anyone else concur/disagree with that? Sounds like a pretty good idea i guess. As far as viewing order for the specials goes.. theres no chronological spot where the specials sit? They could literally be watched before i even start the series?
Im still confused about the specials i listed though. So are those actually OAV's or where they just extras put out with the DVD release?
Im also not clear on what the first one listed on ADB is. I see the other 3: Blind alchemist, simple people, tales of the master; all seem to have some fansubers listed. But the first special ""Hagane no Renkinjutsushi" Complete Clarification!! " has no entry for it on Myanimelist at all. What is it? As far as Myanimelist is concerned there are only 3 specials and it seems even on ADB theres no groups that have done that first special.
It looks like eclipse didn't do any of the specials, so i need to find a release for them from another group. Hiyono seems to have done all 3 although they only list them as oav 1 oav 2, ect instead by title. Is Hiyono a decent fansub group? I havent heard of them at all. If not im curious who you guys used for the specials
