Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

The purpose of SD is to allow mangaka to simulate dynamic movement, especially small motions like changing facial expressions and habitual ticks, within a static medium.  I don't mind a little bit in anime, since it's still hand drawn; however, it no longer serves any purpose, aside from exaggerated slapstick, when used this blatantly.  I always thought the first FMA went overboard, but this one takes it to a completely new level.  So no, it doesn't give it a nice manga feel; it just makes a mockery of the source material by demonstrating a lack of confidence in the scenarios, dialogue, and characters.

I'm glad Im not the only one who felt rushed through the first few episodes. They're really banking on the fact that you have a base familiarity with the side characters and the beginning of the story. However, I was glad they took the time to mention Xing in the first episode. A nice way to let the fans know that they are going to get to something new.

Alright.  Truth be told though, I don't think describing the inconsistencies with the first anime adaptation really qualifies as a spoiler unless I were to tell what the alternatives were.  Anyway, noted and changed.

As to how rushed the first few episodes have been...

It's necessary.  They are wanting to finish up what we have already seen quickly, but if they were to just gloss over it, we'd be completely lost since some content got added to the first anime adaptation that wasn't in the manga adaptation and while it only slightly changes the story in some places (what we are seeing now), in others its a big deal.  You might even note that the mayor of that coal mining town that didn't get an episode in Brotherhood since it was a rather minor event, and instead it just got glossed over in episode 4 in a debriefing by Mustang.  It's a big deal that it happens since that character is a recurring character later on, but since they couldn't really redo the episode (since there isn't a whole lot of elaboration you can do with that event and they want to save work for the big stuff down the road), they couldn't just assume we knew it happened.

I think it'll probably be around somewhere between episode 13-18 when we are back up to speed with where the manga and the first anime parted ways and then it will be less rushed throughout the rest of the series.

yeah i have to agree ep 5 was pretty boring. I wouldn't mind rewatching  FMA but but I'm finding some bits of brotherhood boring.
Even if it meant having to wait a bit longer to get to the point where the plots begin to differ I would prefer if they didn't rush the episodes. At the moment the episodes are just all plot (very condensed) and since i know the plot its not that interesting.

I never watched the first FMA nor did I read the manga. Is it really that bad? For I am new to it FMA looks quite... how do I say this... normal.

Though the story with Rose (was that the name of the girl in that town with the priest?) doesn't seem concluded (well, perhaps it's about to conclude regarding the last episode).
