Shangri-la, First impression.

I lost interest in this since the groups who were doing it were doing it slowly. Oh, well. Teaches me to wait for something to get fully released.

Aren't O-L's encodes low on detail? I'm fairly sure their HD version is an upscale. Though, some mods on BakaBT clearly doesn't care much about that (won't point fingers). Here's comparison views. I wish Jade hadn't dropped it.

The 1080p's are upscaled for sure. I don't know about the rest. I'd go for the 480p or 720p.

It's about time this finished up. I gave up after the 5th episode, I just couldn't handle waiting. Following long series hurts my brain... I can never remember what happened early on

Just finished episode 19... and I'm really liking it. It's even more epic (so far) than I expected it to be. The songs by Sheryl, err... May'n are amazing. And Kuniko is quite the endearing lil heroine. Can't wait to get this finished later!

Heh, how did I know you'd say that? The OP of hers is great... just downloaded it. And the song she sings during episode 19 is... unbelievable. Reminds me of her performance in Macross when...

there's a bunch of people in the bunker or whatever and everyone is scared, then Sheryl stands up and starts singing. Very deep moment.

Edit: And finished. It was good. Some nice twists, plenty of interesting characters, good action with even better drama... all in all, pretty epic.

One thing really bothers me though. MEDUSA gained control of everything, ended up firing all the nuclear weapons, and then sank itself. So, why was there no nuclear fallout? I'm confused. Unless it didn't fire them off like they thought it did. Ugh. But whatever. Only one confusing plot point is fine with me.

I really liked the one part at the end when Klaris and Zhang met Karin for the first time... and how Karin was surprised how much older than her they were. That was totally unexpected.

So, Shangri-la is getting... like a 8.2/10 from me. Not too shabby.

Either by Karin or right from the beginning MEDUSA was tricked to have gained control of the world's nuclear weapons. The nuclear apocalypse was only virtual but MEDUSA believed that there was a nuclear winter letting the temperature drop and the water level sink due to glaciers. I think it was Karin who was somehow able to trick MEDUSA at the end.

I do remember someone (the old guy?) mentioning that Karin got to MEDUSA at the last second, but I wasn't sure exactly what that meant. But now it makes sense.

So here's a question, what's so good about Shinji's release over O-L's in BakaBT?! O-L has karaoke.

I'm dropping Shinji and Commie as well. The quality in picture between the two is similar to no difference.

Yea, that too. I'm on the 2nd episode and it's much nicer than Shinji's. I'm gonna check their 1080p and see if it's any better, I doubt it is tho'.

Fucking awesome anime, episode 15 finished and the build up is increasing. The main character is somewhat weak, but the side characters and other main characters somewhat give it a strong connection that builds a good story. Very good. Gonna wake up in couple of hours to watch more episodes before going to work.

After giving it some more thought, I've lowered my overall rating of Shangri-La. Still a good series... but there's a lot of plot holes, unexplained things and just... weird things that bothered me too much to give it such a high mark.

Highlight is still episode 19... *nods*

I found the first ending theme... I really want the second one though And aaarrggg!! I want that song of May'n. Why are these so hard to find?!
