Repth:
I loved this show, the first episode was a real hook for me. It was also fairly sad on my part between Wakaba and Kou. The only problem I had was that it was kind of slow in some parts, but nevertheless it was a very good series that had a great plot for baseball.

I was comparing it to another series by the creator named touch and the plot sounds verry similar.. is this a remake of touch or its own story with a similar description? I also notice its got a tragety tag which i find strange. It sounds like a light hearted slice of life show to me. Should i actually expect some serious drama?

im gonna give it a look but i was curious what group would be the best bet. I notice ANBU and CV are here and both rated well on ANIDB. CV is 720p, while ANBU is just SD. What did this originally air in? Basically i want to know if the CV version is an upscale or what. I gotta choose which version to go with and unless the video qualitys a huge jump in CV i may just go with ANBU.. i really dislike the ugly yellow CV font

does one groups actual subs outshine the other or are they both pretty well done translation wise?

It's an original story. Tragedy happened very early on before we enter there lives. It has some drama but not very serious. Good character development. I preferred Central. Originally aired on an HD channel but was upscaled from SD. Remember to check Ji-Hi. It can answer a lot of these questions fairly often.

And why do people always complain about the font or styling in soft-subbed MKV's when you can change them to whatever you like regardless of what fonts and styles were put into the container?

kenshin-dono:
well sounds like its damn good. I snagged the first few epps of each group to see which one i'll go for. Unless the 720p really blows me away, or CV's sub quality is way better then im probably going for ayako. Like i said i dislike their ugly font, and the filezise is pretty big for a series this long

Its funny renton mentioned that he doesn't like sports anime. This was recomended to me as a sports anime to watch for people who aren't into sports anime. This and one outs. Im kinda in the mood for something with good character development and characters i give a crap about so this sounds like it may fit the bill

Oh, and i do use Ji-hi and it can be ok to show glaring problems with some groups sometimes but doesn't really fill in for someone whos compared them's opinion

kenshin-dono:
holy crap this show is awesome! i dont know what it is, it has some bizare charm that sucked me in. I wasnt feeling well so i just lounged around all day the other day and just couldnt' stop watching this. I blew through 20 episodes!

I hate sports shows but this seems to really focus on the characters and that out of the blue depressing first epp was definatly different. Good stuff

Im wondering if i should check out this guys other work, like Touch.

xfreidax:
Touch is really good as well. It's pretty old but if you can get over the dated animation, you won't be disappointed.
