From manga to anime (Bleach|Naruto)
« on: April 09, 2009, 03:28:37 PM »
Hey I'm long-term manga reader, to anime I'm quite new and seen just few complete series so far (Paranoia Agent, Death Note, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei) but anyway that's not what I came to write/ask in this thread. Just polite intro. Now to the point.

Ones that I've completely skipped are Naruto and Bleach because they seemed childish but I've been thinking of catching them up my way, through manga and then moving to anime as late as possible. On Easter holiday my girlfriend will be with her family so I'm alone and got lot of nerd time for myself.

Watching all of the original series seems and is devastating plus I don't even have enough harddrive left for two 50GB packs, so we get to my actual question, where should I pick up the series from after reading:

-Naruto Manga Volume 1-27
and
-Bleach Manga ch 1 to ch 233

I've also been thinking of One Piece, I've readed that manga up to 430, what about it?

To put it simply, You shouldn't watch the series.  Just keep to the manga and you will be much happier for it.

qft.

Also noteworthy is that in Bleach they've added some
stuff that's not in the manga so skipping it all may
confuse, and irritate, you a lot more than it does
even those who have followed the series.

I say that you should watch the animes, for example the first part of Naruto doesn't have any fillers untill ep 135,while Shippuuden has quite a lot,out of 5 arcs, only 3 are story only, but the # of eps is kinda the same.
Personally,I find watching animes much easier than reading manga.

Go watch the anime version of Bleach, It has more of a story to it and it has lot more action to the story then Naruto.

IF you want to see all The char's in Naruto have screen time then you should watch all the anime episodes. In the Manga they don't show everybody, but in the anime they show more of there personalities.

i suggest staying with the manga and don't even think about moving into the anime.

You won't miss anything worth seeing by just reading the manga, and you won't ever have to suffer through content that doesn't count.

Ok it just seems to me that these days those series are actually ahead manga, advancing the story?
That's incorrect?

no they aren't.  What is happening is that the anime moves much faster than the manga.  So when the anime catches up to the manga they run out of source material.  So instead of putting the show on hiatus (or even going in their own direction) they just decide to make up their own stuff.  The problem with this is it tends to suck and has nothing to do with the actual story line.

Yeah I've heard of those fillers from my friend who has been anime freak for 6+ years already and helped me to get started back in the days.
Thanks for nice replies it's great that you answer politely instead of mocking anime newbie!

I love the site and forums, quality is awesome for public tracker. I think I'll stick with manga and find some shorter and maybe more interesting anime series to watch.

It's a good idea.
But I still think that you should give Naruto a try.The best part of Naruto is the Sasuke Retrieval arc(with the Invasion of Konoha arc),but the Chuunin exams are pretty nice;)
